Hey,

I was just wondering what your average GPA for say the top 10% of the class right now and after 1st year. Also, where you rank and your GPA at your school would be very helpful as well!

Thanks.

4.0

Where I went, no one has graduated with a 4.0 in something like 25 years. There are several classes where only 3 people will get an A, if that...I ended up ranked fourth or fifth with a 3.6XX...

If you're asking because you're wondering about specializing, GPA isn't as important as class rank and boards. Those things even out the playing field. There's no way to compare a 4.0 and a 3.6 from different schools objectively, but class rank and board scores tends to be more heavily utilized. If that's not why you're asking, then nevermind...

Top 10% for first year so far is 3.50 or higher. I'd be surprised if anyone has a 4.0 right now though. Lab classes are just too unfamiliar for most people to consistently get As on every practical this early in the game.

How do the number of credits of courses weigh into the GPA calculation?

When I said 4.0, I was talking about the first year class after just 1 semester. I'm unsure what the senior's GPAs are like but i'm sure there are several classes in which an A is impossible to attain. But that being said I know that some second semester sophomores have 4.0s.

Some? As in more than 1? Nope, 4.0s didn't happen at my dental school either. Maybe a semester here and there, but not overall. Not only did lab classes barely give out As, but I remember there being lecture classes as well where there were like 3 As given out total.

I didn't have a single 4.0 semester, and I was still in the top five...it's all relative...if you really want to get any usable information, you need to ask about whatever dental school you're going to...

I have the same GPA as the rest of my class...0 Gotta love the pass/no pass system

Thats cool.

So all your classes are pass and no pass?

What school is this?

3.55 and #16/110 at my school (1st year grades). Don't know what the top 10% have. I'm pretty sure there are some 4.0s here. But that may be impossible after this semester.
