I've no idea how to calculate GPA. I guess SOPHAS will do it. (right?) I have an average of 60% in my MBBS. Any estimate on what my GPA would be? Is it advisable to give an explanation in the other relevant info section of sophas for this average...GPA...? Plus, I have v. low marks in a particular subject...I generally do not like to indulge in the explaining thing...but maybe its warranted...your thoughts...and a GPA estimate, please...

No SOPHAS does not calculate GPAs for foreign degrees only US courses. They certainly didn't for mine. You can't calculate it yourself that is what WES is for lol I don't think it matters really for MBBS you can't calculate a meaningful GPA for it. More important would be some mention as to your class ranking as that gives context to your marks.

as far as i know you can calculate like this :

sum total the highest marks in each year (so total of 4 years in MBBS) in your university (not college, because degree is awarded by university) in MBBS (can be of different persons; whoever comes with highest marks in that year) and then sum total you marks each year, and then divide your marks by the former and convert it onto a scale of 4.

for example : (800 / 1000) X 4 = 3.2
