cGPA: 3.4
sGPA: 3.2 (A in gen bio, C+ in cell bio, A- in both Physics, B+ and A- in Gen Chem 1 and 2, B+ in Eco, and D in Orgo 1)

Currently a sophomore. Is there any coming back from this and do I have any chances at getting into an MD school if I improve my grades or is my GPA unrecoverable? Do you suggest retaking any of the courses such as Cell Bio and Orgo 1?

I was doing fine in Orgo till the final which I did horribly on. My health overall has not been good and I have been trying to overcome this but so far have not been able to. My parents are worried about this and due to my performance and my health issues, they are wanting me to change into a major in which there is more job security and which is less stressful. I really do want to be a doctor, but I have not been able to get my grades up to par so I am just posting here for any suggestions.

I don't know if this is a policy at your school, but we can only retake a C- or worse. You need to have at least a C for all your pre reqs anyway, so you will need to retake orgo and do really well. If you maintain a strong upward trend or consistently get As from here on out, your cGPA can still be competitive (3.5+). MDs don't do grade replacement so they will still see your C and D though. Also, 2 bad grades won't shut you out from all the schools. I got one C in undergrad too. If your ultimate goal is to be a physician, start researching DO schools too 🙂
