Hi all,

I just finished freshman year at a well-regarded liberal arts college, and I didn't do so well in gen chem (1.7 and then 2.3). I was dealing with some pretty serious issues with my depression, but needless to say, I'm starting to get on the right track again. Anyway, I'm taking gen chem again over the summer at a different university (it isn't as well-regarded, but it does have a well-known science program), and my GPA will be much better. If I keep going as I am now, I'll get a 3.7 or a 4.0 in gen chem I, and my studying will be just as rigorous for gen chem II.

My school doesn't allow for courses to be retaken for higher grades, so the 1.7 and the 2.3 will be on my on my transcript, but will the addition of this summer's transcript help undo some of the damage? Will they be factored in in any way for my science GPA?

Unfortunately, every grade will be factored into your GPA - both the original and repeat. However, you've still got plenty of time before you apply to dental school. Just continue to work hard in all of your classes.

Thank you!

But to clarify; yes, I know that the original grades will be visible and taken into account since they'll be on my official transcript from the school I'm planning to graduate from. But how exactly will the repeat grade be considered when it shows up on a separate transcript, and when it's repeated at another school during the summer?
