Please help with this dilemma.

Option 1: School GPA includes current school I attend and past school I've attended and did not perform well at. It's combining the 2 school's GPA's and giving me a lower GPA.

Option 2: New school only takes into account current school grades leaving me with a higher GPA.

Will the higher GPA matter at Option 2 because dental schools will take into account all grades at all schools and might reevaluate my GPA in the end anyways right? But on the other-hand lets say I have a 3.6 GPA at Option 2 School and that qualifies me to apply to a certain Dental school, then that would give me an advantage?

Need to know ASAP please. Greatly appreciated.

Pretty sure its an average of both schools. Theyll probably notice the upward trend though.

Thanks for answering! I'm freaking out because I have to make this school decision today. But the higher GPA doesn't count as a qualifier? Like some dental schools have admissions standards of XX so that would get my foot in the door and then when they evaluate the transcripts they take the average of two schools? Or does it not work like that? I was only at that school for a semester before I left.

They will average. I did the same thing. I transferred to a new school after my sophomore year and made strait A's all junior year. My gpa at this school is a 4.0 but my AADSAS overall GPA is a 3.79..But yes I agree they will appreciate the upward trend.

Bottom line is, ALL grades matter. Thats why ADEA ask you to send in transcripts from all of the schools.

Doesnt matter whether or not your current schools take transfer credits or not.

However, what adcom chooses to see, because they can see all of the individual grades and origin,is really up to individual schools.

I'm just wondering this, yes they take all grades into account I understand that portion. BUT would I have a better chance at the school with a higher GPA but without the other courses accounted into or at the school that automatically took the bad grades into account? I don't think I'm phrasing my question correctly so I'm really sorry for that I'm having a hard time formulating what I want to say.

I know in the end it doesn't matter because they see all grades but upon applying if I were to meet any admission standards wouldn't the higher GPA be better at first look?

What are you even trying to ask?

They will take all grades into consideration. They will not just look at your current schools GPA, but they will take the upward trend into consideration.

When you are applying, the adcoms will be looking at the overall combined GPA of all the schools you have attended rather than the GPA of the individual schools when determining whether your GPA meets their "admission standards". As others have said, your GPA from all college transcripts matter in the end. How AADSAS calculates your GPA is totally different than how your university calculates them.

I know exaclty what you are saying. You're saying that if you had a 3.6 at school 2 and say 3.2 at school 1, would the schools look at the 3.6 first before looking at the rst of the transcript from school 1?

Answer is: No.

Think of it this way. Consolidate every class you have taken into one school. Thats how they see your grades.

ADEA literally does not care what your school's GPA is, just the grade you got in the courses.

Hope this helps.

This helped tremendously! So relieved you understood what I was trying to say! Thank you so much!
