Ok... so the original post was for the most part a repeat of past questions and discussions, so I'm simplifying it, and just asking one question:

How do Caribbean schools calculate GPA? Do they omit repeated courses like osteopathic schools, or count them in like allopathic schools in the U.S.? I know the Caribbean schools are allopathic, but there is no central app. service like amcas, so.... ??

Can't speak for all schools, but SGU does not omit any repeated courses. Everything is included: repeats, prepeats, etc

::😳oh I like "prepeats", I might have to use that again:::

Darn. That's a little discouraging. Only counting the last attempt in each course, I would have around a 3.9 at graduation, but counting all attempts about a 3.2 something. By most accounts, still good enough for SGU with a good MCAT, but not a lock, which would relieve some stress! Thanks for the info though! Sucks that grades from almost 10 years ago and have nothing to do with who I am today can have such an adverse effect.

On a side not, why then does the general opinion seem to be that SGU and the like are easier to get into than osteopathic schools, which only count the last attempt of a course in GPA? I understand carib. schools generally have lower average GPA's for entering classes, but I'm sure the osteopathic averages are bumped up a good amount by only counting most recent attempts. (this is not a knock against D.O.'s, don't take it as such!)

Oh well, I'll just have to rock the MCAT and cross my fingers.
