GPA Woes

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Milk your tutors for what their worth!... On a serious note, does your class have tutors, if so use them? Or find a learning center that has math tutors and utilize them.

My gpa sucks right now because of this pre-aleg ckass this is my third time taking this class.
Pre alg? Seriously? Get all the help you can get but if its your 3rd time taking this, I just don't think you paid enough attention in the course or something

I'm a bit confused, I thought you were looking for a school for your bachelors (based on your other posts)? If pre-algebra is giving you issues (enough to take it three times) how do you think you're going to handle calc, orgo, and any of the upper level classes? I'm not trying to be negative, but you post lacks any sort of, well anything.

I am looking for a new school and I did pay attention. The teachers that they hire do not speak clear english. Also, I just got my grades back and I passed with flying colors. (thanks to summer school).

The tutors at that school are overwhelmed because of the lack of good teachers. I think they are understaffed and the teachers well.. do't really care about what they are teaching.

Thanks for your encouragement.

Learn to self study. Once I learned how to teach myself my grades became straight As and it never mattered how good or bad the professor was. Also came in handy when studying for the MCAT.

I just started using this site this week and NO! I came here for support not trolling.

If you're having trouble in pre-algebra, a high school course, you need to up your game. I'm not going to feed you bs platitudes.

You have a choice. Either you're going to work your ass off, or you won't. I don't care about the outcome, that's for you to decide.

I posted that I passed this summer.

All of my other classes I have A's in it was just that class.
You are going to need a trig-level of understanding of math, at a minimum, to get through Physics and General chemistry. I suggest looking into online resources such as Khan academy (sp?) to get a solid foundation on the subject before taking any more math courses.

If you want better feedback, try posting more then single sentences. And sorry, but people aren't here to coddle you. A B- if you GPA "sucks right now" isn't going to cut it. What were your grades the first two times? Did you not pass twice and then get a B- the third time? From a premed non-transitional perspective, that isn't "flying colors". Look at the average GPA's of matriculated students, sorry, but 2.7 (which is an AMCAS B-) isn't going to cut it. Most people here are great for support, but part of that is being realistic. And that means saying hard things that need to be said.

If you want positive feedback, try coming in seeking constructive criticism, or advice, or...pretty much anything but defensive, one sentence, posts. What's your GPA? Where are your strong areas? What are weaknesses. Do you want help, are you just venting? If you truly aren't trolling, try to actually post something that people can respond to, don't get defensive and shoot down everyone that's giving you constructive criticism.
