So how does college gpa work. DOes a 100 = 4.0 then with points you go down... or does A+ = 4.0 and it goes down A, A- etc

Also, it's different if you go to a Canadian university. They go by %.

depends on if you are on a +/- scale or straight letter.

A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1

A- is like 3.7 B+ is like 3.4 or something like that and so on.

Nice so that means mine is a A- ? Mine is 3.8 :D

so as long as you get an A its 4.0 for that class, not A+? And is an A an 93% like in hs

assuming you are on a non-weighted 4.0 scale, yes.

High school is way different because there are class weights.
For example I had like a 4.5 GPA with a few B's and C's on my transcript due to the weight of my coursework.

In college the "formula" one uses to determine GPA looks like this.

Lets Say I take 2 class as follows:

Biol 220 - A - 4 credit hours
Biol 335 - B - 3 credit hours

The "Quality point" for the classes are the numerical equivalent of the grade times the credit hours.

so for Biol 330 I have 4 (from the A) x 4 (credit hours) = 16 points
Biol 335 3 (from the B) x 3 (credit hours) = 9

Now for GPA you take the sum of your points / sum of hours
so (16+9)/(4+3) = 25/7 = 3.57

so as long as you get an A its 4.0 for that class, not A+? And is an A an 93% like in hs
In the states at least percent in the class is irrelevant. It is the letter grade a professor assigns you that matters. Professors are free to use whatever scales they wish provided the university is okay with it.

My 90% A in physics is just as good as my 96% A in Cell.

This is how it is approximately in the US.

A+ = 4.0 (=~97-100)
A = 4.0 (=~ 93-96)
A- = 3.7 (=~90-93)
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7

Yeah, some schools offer A+s. Personally, it pisses me off because most schools don't and people in those schools get inflated GPAs. But yeah, Eye sums it up well. Most schools it's just A=93+ though, no A+
