Hey,

So I've been accepted into the GPPA at UIC and the DAP at Midwestern (YAY!) I was just wondering which school i should give more preference to since they both seem equally good.

Also, if anyone is already enrolled in any of these programs do they give scholarships/financial aid?

congratulations! I can only tell you a little about uic... You will need to complete a bachelors and then go into the pharmacy school, which means around 8 years of schooling! You also need to maintain a certain gpa and remain a full time student for all 4 years. I do not really know about Midwestern, but it seems like it may be around 6 years?

I would personally choose UIC, but both are really close for me too! I think I would choose UIC because it is cheaper in the long run, and has a good reputation... but Midwestern also has a good reputation.

I think UIC is good with scholarships.... but maybe because I receive a lot? With a state school like UIC your fafsa/ efc (expected family contribution) really matters with federal and state scholarships. I have a pretty low one, so I receive more. And the good grades that got you into the GPPA will lend in your favor for additional grants.

But every case is different. And sometimes it may be cheaper to go to a private institution because they have a lot of money themselves to give out, and you can also receive the federal and state grants/loans. (I saw this personally at a different school).

If you haven't done so, you should fill out your fafsa! I know the UIC deadline was March 1st... I was a little late as well. But if you do it soon it shouldn't affect the money you receive too much.

After you have filled out the fafsa and it has been completed, check with the schools to see if they have received it. Then you can probably make an appointment/ check online to see your award. You should definitely contact a financial aid advisor with more questions. They can give you definite answers.

Congratulations!!

I was accepted into the GPPA but unfortunately my gpa dipped below 3.5 and i was dismissed from the program. What i can tell you is that they are very very very strict about maintaining your cumm. gpa at or above 3.5 and by going to UIC you have to remain in the honors college and do honors college activities each semester (which aren't that bad). during your last year at UIC you have to do a capstone project which depending on your major can be a senior research project or a senior thesis. and if u do go to UIC and if u decide to apply before getting a bacholers u get dropped from the program.
UIC is pretty good at giving financial aid and there are plenty of scholarships you can apply to.

i don't know that much about DAP, but i think the required gpa is a little lower and you will get out of school quicker. but midwestern is a very expensive school so UIC would be cheaper in the long run.

hope that helped! good luck!
