Anyone know what GPR's in NY/NJ pay? I know I have not even started D School yet, but I think a GPR is what I want to do. Just curious.
I think you may be jumping the gun a little. That is over four long years away from now. I know planning for the future is important and all but I think you should really concentrate on school for now and see where your at at the end of D3.
The ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation just came out with its survey of graduate education programs and the book lists the stipends paid by various programs as of last year. The average stipend was around $42,000. What they will be in 3 or 4 years is a guess but usually programs go up about $1000. each year.
I'm sorry to hear you're having such a crummy experience. My GPR is off to a great start. Good luck whatever you decide.Currently, gpr programs are paying btwn $40 - $55k/yr. Each yr, there seems to an increase of an extra 1k/yr. Health coverage, 30 days of vacation, etc. are all included. The salaries are taxable, leaving you just 2/3s to spend.
As always, look beyond the salary if you're serious about a gpr.
I barely started my gpr ( really because I couldn't find an associate position and the dept chair asked me to sign the contract) and already I'm finding the curriculum to be full of bull.
My program already had three ( ! )people who quit during orientation. And that is in addition to 1-2 unfilled seats. I'll give it an extra week or so before making my own decision.
