GPR

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends on the program you are applying to.

Some GPR programs in nice, busy, affluent suburbs with relatively high pay can be very competitive and difficult to get into (such as North Shore Manhassett on Long Island in New York).. On the other hand, some GPR programs out in the boonies or in slum areas (where very few students want to apply to) can be easy to get into.

You can get more info about the GPR programs at the ADEA's PASS site here: http://www.adea.org/PASS/default.htm

HTH!

The ADA says "The number of students that continue for dental specialty training has been stable for nearly 20 years. However, increasing numbers of dental seniors are successfully completing GPR and AEGD programs."

"The AADS reports that 30% of senior dental students apply to either GPR or AEGD programs or both for the over 1,300 positions available."

"The AEGD, GPR and dental specialty programs together provide the equivalent of a PGY-1 experience for approximately half the dental graduates in the United States."

If you go to the PASS website (www.adea.org), you can download the program information for ALL the specialty programs. This will tell you in what states GPRs are located, give you website links, and list the requirements of each program, as well as salary, and responsiblities. Hopefully that can give you a better feel for the different programs.

Tom already posted the link, just click on "Participating Postdoctoral Programs".

Thanks Guys!!!
