Grad Intern?

I've been hunting around for internships (currently P1) and on the Walmart job search, the only thing they have listed is "grad intern." Clicking on that job leads to the qualifications and it says BS in Pharmacy or PharmD required.

Could someone explain this to me? Why would someone who already has a PharmD want to work as an intern for Walmart instead of working as the actual pharmacist?

A grad intern is someone who has graduated pharmacy school but has not yet obtained their pharmacist license.

It is usually a bridging position. The idea being you would be hired on as an intern, then transition to a staff RPh when you pass your boards.

Plus, you get paid less as an intern than as a pharmacist. So they would train you for X number of weeks to be a pharmacist at a lower wage so when you are passing the boards and get the license you will be ready to be a pharmacist.

And you make more than you would as a regular intern (in-school).

OP, you will not find pharmacy technician jobs on the corporate website...you will have to apply at store level for those. Talk to the pharmacy managers and apply at the little in-store kiosk thing. If you are looking for intern jobs, I'm not sure if those are on the website either - probably hit or miss. Best bet is still to start at store level, IMHO. <<I only mentioned tech jobs because in the state where I lived, I had to be done with my P1 year prior to becoming an intern, so I could only be a tech during that time.>>
