I am hoping to start a Post-Bac program this fall. The main intention is to boost my GPA for admittance to DO or unlikely MD schools. As a reader of these forums for a bit now a question I am wondering is for DO schools how many retakes can you take and when does it start to look bad retaking too many classes or replacing certain letter grades.
e.g. I have C+ in Bio 2 and Ochm 1 and a C's in Ochm 2 and Phys 2
Will DO schools fault me for retaking all for them for grade replacement? Or shld I plan on retaking just the C's? Any thoughts on the DO schools grade forgiveness policies?

It is extremely important that your GPA is high rather than your grades. Yes your GPA may get higher, but GPA matters more than single grades.

I am new here, do you know how to ask a question?

Yes, retake. DO schools (not md) do grade replacement, so you would count the second time instead of the first. But MAKE SURE you can get A's. Do one-at-a-time if you have to and cut out (or minimize) other activities. Taking it a second time and getting less than an A makes it look like you STILL haven't mastered the material. So make sure you crush it.

There is no question whatever that a retake for an A beats a non-retake for a C. Don't let the count of retakes dissuade you from making your app more compelling and increasing your chances of a good MCAT score.

A GPA comeback means you've lost the opportunity to play with minimum requirements for acceptance. C's in prereqs are bare minimum. Take the high road - over-prove your case - make it easy for admissions committees to fight for you over applicants who didn't make mistakes.

Best of luck to you.

Dr. Mdlife if I have read your post correctly your saying to plan on retaking those classes to improve my GPA and MCAT scores...thanks.
