Got D's on both Ochem 30C/CL at UCLA. Somehow graduated (shouldn't have and stayed to retake). Now I'm in a predicament b/c I want to retake/replace those classes at a different university since I live farther away and working. Called UCI and they said the 51C/CL series is equivalent to 30C/CL at UCLA, but when I mentioned I'm already a graduate, they said they're not. Also considering retaking my C- in Biochem 153A, but got to figure this out first.

If I were to take the 51C/CL series at UCI, would AMCAS consider it as an equivalent class to UCLA's 30C/CL?

Looked everywhere and couldn't find an answer. Help me SDN; you're my only hope. (lol)

AMCAS doesn't do grade replacement at all. You have to report every class you've taken, even if they are the same as another, and all your grades count.

Only DO schools do grade replacement, I believe.

Not sure what you mean by "grade replacement." All of those grades, whether you take directly equivalent courses or not, will go on your AMCAS and be factored into your various GPAs. if you plan on applying DO, things are different.

Yeah, I understand the grade all shows, but by retaking the 51 series at UCI, does it show I have taken the full ochem series? Since I didn't fully pass the last third of the ochem series, I want to show amcas that I fully took the ochem series. Also does it get factored into my gpa?

Thanks for the pdf. Doesn't particularly answer my question. I'm guessing I'll just have to take the 30C/CL series back at UCLA somehow or another if there's no answer. I contacted amcas. If anyone has a different contact I can use, that would be awesome, thanks.

You can retake 153A during Sumner session or through UCLA extension where it is offered every quarter. Chem 30C/CL might.be more of a problem since it's only offered during the year. Since you even took 30C I'm assuming you are a chem major? If yes how did you do in p-chem and your other UD courses. If not a chem major how'd you do on 30B/BL?

Yes, every class you take gets factored into your GPA. I don't believe AMCAS makes these types of distinctions. This is going to be something handled by the med schools that you apply to, and their admission staff. All AMCAS will do is show the classes that you report, and form a GPA based on that.
