When I first took the 2nd semester of Ochem at UC Berkeley, the class was 5 units, Chem 112B, lecture and lab. Now I am planning to retake this class at a local community college, and some of these colleges offer a 3 unit lecture class and a 2 unit lab class. If I take it like this, will the grades combine to replace the original?

No.

Edit: The credit hours for the repeat course needs to be equal or greater than that of the initial course

It might. They say that in the handbook however I was in similar situation retaking courses in a postbac and all the courses at my undergrad were 4 credits, 3 at the postbac. With a letter from my advisor at the post bac I was able to still utilize grade replacement for some courses that were in fact equivalent. I had to call and speak to someone at AACOMAS if I recall.
