So i was already accepted to one of my top choices (PCOM) and I was wondering if this semester and next semester's grades are important. I am a senior that is graduating undergrad in May.

Me too, I'd like to know as well. I believe though that C's are fine, but I'm not 100% sure.

Try not to drop more than a whole letter grade, and nothing below a C. You can breath, but some scholarships are based on your GPA. Don't forfeit them! You must submit your final transcript before matriculation. So, they will see ALL your senior grades. I'm sure that schools are aware of the slide.

But a good question is, can you let yourself slack off? For me, after busting my ass for years, I just can't seem to let myself blow things off in light of my acceptance. Hell, I only need to make a 34 on my biochem-II final (which is over a week away) to make an A for the class, and I've been studying pretty hardcore for it for the past 2 days! Anyone else having this "problem", or is it just me?

yeah I think you can. I mean think about it, once you are in med school you will be working your ass off studying and you are going to wish that you took it easy at times when you realized that you could. I mean dont become a couch potato and do nothing but use some of that potential extra time to sit back relax. After all you are in medical school you might as well enjoy the feeling. You can tone it down a bit if you want. Of course if you really want to work 100% throughout your senior year (or year before med school) then all the power to you. but I intend to take it a bit easier before spending late hours into the night studying for exams next year.

well, normally i would say that slacking off is really hard for me to do, but since im done with all pre-med stuff and finishing up my degree in spanish it is so hard to be motivated. and after last semester, with lacrosse, mcat and cell bio, a semester of nothing is pretty sweet

My attitude may change next semester. I guess part of it may be that since I've done pretty well so far this semester, why not keep it up for the last few tests to finish this semester out.

What kind of grading system do you have that you need such a low score for an A? If an A for you school constitutes 92.5% or better than are you telling me your final is worth only 10-11% of your grade, I doubt that?

his A is prolly an 85 scaled-A .. if he needed a 92.5% .. he'd definitely need higher than a 34 or w/e ... his "A" has to be below the original 90% ... what a bummer, wish i had more professors as generous as that 😡

His grading system is out of 500 points...4 exams (no cumulative final) and 10 homework grades worth 10 pts. each. And yes, HIS (not the school's, but he's the one to actually submit grades) cut-off for an A (or A- rather) is 85%. I have 100 pts for my homework, 92, 93, and 96 on my first 3 exams, plus 10 points extra credit, which gives a total of 391 points so far. 85% of 500 is 425 points, so 425-391 is 34 points for my final exam. However, if I want a full A (as opposed to an A-), then I'll probably need around a 53 on my final.😀

That's awesome. Did we have to go through this whole thing though? I'm guessing that people are actually going to do these calculations.

Well, Dr.Inviz and Protease were getting into the numbers a bit, so I figured I'd be specific...😉
