I hear that if you retake a course, DO schools average out the hisgest one. My question about that is... If say for example a student takes a class over 20 times (twenty) and their higest grade is an A. would the DO schools consider that the class was taken 19 times before getting a good grade or would they just consider the hihest grade and disregard the previous 19 grades (assuming those 19 were below a C)?

I have no idea, but i would guess that anything over taking the class 3 times would look horrible. And on that third time you better get an A +.

If you've seen the material twice before, and still can't get an A + on the third time you take a class, then that is a bad sign.

They replace the grade, not average them. AMCAS averages them.

No idea on how they would handle you retaking a class 20 times. I am sure you are just exaggerating.

The actual numerical GPA calculation would reflect the highest grade, but they're still going to see all of your grades, including the first 19 Fs, so any adcom is going to look at it and go "Wtf is wrong with this guy? Theres no reason it should take 19 times to get an A"

I'd change my major and career goal before taking a class 20 times.

In your calculated GPAs, AACOMAS would only count the LATEST grade, not necessarily the HIGHEST; if your latest grade is worse than the one before, the worse one will still be counted and the others will be disregarded.

However, as was stated, schools will see ALL grades and ALL retakes, so just because it's not reflected in your GPA doesn't mean they don't see it.

Damnit Semi. you beat me.😡

Correct. Only biol, chem, and phys are counted in the science GPA.

Dammit Punk, you beat me. 😡

And not only bio, chem, and physics is counted into the science GPA; plenty of sciences are, such as those counted as "other science". But yeah, no math. 😛

Well said. LOL🙄

DO schools don't count CALCULUS in BMCP GPA, correct ?

As stated, AACOMAS does only a science GPA in which calculus is not included since it is a math class.

However, the BMCP is used for the allopathic schools and the calculus grade will be used in this category for those schools.

The latest grade is used for the purpose of AACOMAS calculating your GPA in identical repeated courses, however all of the grades appear in your transcripts forwarded to the medical school. If you scored an A in the end that is good, but having a few Fs before that is still a blemish. That alone probably won't keep you from being accepted, but it may be a topic in your interview.
Good luck
