EMT Class Grades Count ???

I graduated college with a 3.4something back in 2003. Later, I took a few 24 hours or so of business accounting classes during the summer and fall of 2006. The fall grades weren't so hot because I had a lot going on and basically had to quit going to class (changed jobs). I didn't care at the time and still don't really, but that drug my GPA down. Since then I've taken some other science courses for prereqs and padding and have made A's. I recently looked at the AACOMAS course list and see that emergency med-tech (EMT) is included in nonscience. I have around 47 hours of 4.0 EMT-Paramedic courses (plus work experience). This is all new to me as I thought programs like that wouldn't count for medical or osteopathic school GPA. Can someone verify that those courses are in fact included or if someone else has had a GPA boost as a result of it? :xf:

I had a similar situation. If the courses were taken for college credit they definitely count and you'd be obligated to send a transcript. I did this with a bunch of paramedic classes. If the class was taken through a fire department or something like that, I don't think they count for anything, though I'm not certain on this point. It could be difficult to get transcripts for classes not taken through an accredited college. I ran into this with my EMT class. Actually, it was taken at an accredited technical college for 6 credit hours and I got an A. The problem was that the program was run by the state fire training organization which was a bit of a joke. When I called to try to get transcripts, they couldn't find any record that I'd ever even been a student. This happened to at least one other person that I know as well. It would have helped my GPA but I decided to let it slide rather than fight with them to get a transcript.

Pretty sure they don't count. In the interview that I had (rejected btw =X) my EMT certification/experiences were a nice EC and a point where I could expand on why I liked healthcare (because I had experience) and because of that, why I wanted to be a physician instead. That's pretty much it.

I'm a EMT-I btw, congrats on paramedic. The only classes that counted on AACOMAS for me was my post-bacc and undergrad work into my uGPA.

Strange. It clearly refers to "emergency med-tech" on AACOMAS. PharmCAS has the same statement.
