grades going down...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
iv been having alot of problems lately with school, im not studying as well as i usually do, how bad would it look if i went from a:
3.7
4.0
4.0
to a
3.7
i know that it looks good when you improve your grades, but its kind of hard to improve a 4.0 (not trying to sound cocky in any way). im worried that it will look really bad if randomly my grades start going down, like 3.7-3.9

Is this per college year or high school year? Also that isn't that bad, it is still a 3.85 average, which is GREAT! Don't be down man, you are on track. just don't get a D in calculus like me.😀

sigh

you're fine. now go study. 😉

Dude...fluctuation from 3.7 to 4.0 isn't really significant at all. It's only .3 points!

OMG you got a 3.7 you're NEVER getting into med school now!!!!!!!!

Relax! You have a great GPA. I would only worry if it started to fall below 3.4-3.5 ish.

You should be fine. Even if your GPA does fluctuate like that, the final GPA will still be great! Such a small change in GPA isn't anything to worry about. 👍

Give yourself a break.

People are going to talk smack, but I understand what you mean. I had (have) a high GPA going into this quarter. I have felt pretty swamped with work, and getting down on myself for earning a few B's on a couple tests. I finally realized that I have unrealistic expectations of what I should be, and that as long as I try my best that is good enough. Once I started thinking that way I was able to relax and I just got an A test back today.

gettn a 3.7 for a semester is like getting a B in 1 class..lol.. nothing bad...

higher level classes are more difficult.. and also some people care less after like 2 years hard work...lol

thanks alot guys,
yeah, i guess i need to calm down a bit, its my first time taking multiple science classes and i guess my expectations were a bit too high...
but i didnt know that the AAMC groups 3.8-4.0 in the same group, thats awesome!

Not my personal philosophy, but still funny.

Just for statistics collection, don't think that a 4.0 isn't way more impressive than a 3.8! (I don't wanna let you be like me and convince yourself a 3.8 is ok when you're capable of a 4.0 😀 !!)

Just curious, are you saying the AMCAS has like a drop down menu and one of the choices is 3.8-4.0? That sounds sketchy...

They're talking about the GPA/MCAT vs acceptance % grid. GPAs are in 0.2 pt intervals for the purposes of data analysis.
