Grades post acceptance

Pretty bad. Are you concerned that you won't do well this semester for some reason? Acceptances are occasionally rescinded so if you have specific worries you may want to contact the school.

Eh. I'm taking 21 credits and I think I may get a C. I guess "do well" is relative.

Most schools tell you in your acceptance letter - like this a conditional acceptance and you must complete your degree getting a B or better in all classes. Mine said something to this effect.

Damn. I wonder if I would be better withdrawing and changing my degree to a BA since I already meet those requirements

So, what would your gpa be for the semester? And what would your cum and overall science gpa be?

Why are you taking 21 credits? Is there an unneeded class that can be dropped so that you won't get that C?

That said, a C shouldn't be a deal breaker.

I need all 21 to graduate

I would check with the school. I know someone who had an acceptance rescinded after receiving a C because it was in their acceptance letter that they could receive no lower than a B the last semester.

Was their gpa already borderline or was this a top school that expected all top grades? What school was this

A east coast DO school. They had a 3.8 GPA before the C, but their MCAT was pretty low which I believe is why they received that contingency.

Thanks...the details sometimes matter. Never heard of a MD school doing this, but maybe they do this too. The low MCAT and this being a DO school may be the difference. We'll see if anyone else mentions anything similar.

thats straight ridiculous. even with a borderline mcat. hope that person had another acceptance..

UVA does this. I personally saw it in a friends acceptance letter, and it seemed to be standard for them as he was a pretty stellar applicant and others had discussed the same thing in the past with UVA apparently.

OP it is completely school dependent, some schools will care and most will not (unless you like get a D or something). My acceptance was contingent on me graduating successfully (duh) and getting a C in my last pre-req (again a duh requirement). Just pay attention to what is in your acceptance letter.

They actually turned down all other interviews because this was their first choice. The school gave them automatic acceptance the next year if they completed 12 hours of science classes and did not receive below a B in them, which they did and then got automatic acceptance and started at this school last year.

You need to check with each school's specific published policy on this issue, either on their website or in student handbook. Usually you need a C in each course, though some schools may require C+ or higher and you must finish current educational pursuits. You must read your acceptance agreement carefully.

Yea i think the issue will be that I will get this C before my acceptance or at least it will be a foregone conclusion. My school does not have +/- grading.
