I spoke to a friend of mine that kept venting his frustration at not attaining a 90% score on his exams. He claims he keeps hovering around the mid 80's.(85-87). He seems concerned about his prospects of keeping himself competitive for any competitive field, should he decide to pursue that.He is an MS1 I might add.

Tell your friend to chill out because his scores are very good (this is assuming that his class average isn't something crazy like 90%) and as long as he is understanding the concepts and his class rank isn't near the bottom, he'll be fine. After all, the great equalizer is the USMLE, so tell him to rock the boards, perform well on the wards (i.e. know what he's talking about and play well with others-- don't act like an ass) and his future will be fine.

I'm not even an MS, and I second that.
