Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum! Just wondering if anyone applying has a graduate degree and if anyone knows if by having a BS and masters gives you any kind of edge?

I'll have a Master of Public Health in May and I've applied to pharmacy school twice before and was never accepted. I thought that by getting an MPH it would increase my chances. I'm got my BS and MPH from University at Buffalo and spoke to admissions....and pretty much told me I won't get in....
my undergrad isn't very impressive. majored in pharmacology overall GPA 3.1 and pre-req about 2.8, PCAT composite 82, and my graduate GPA is 3.75. I work in a pharmacy and have volunteering experience. Just finished pharmcas and waiting for supplements.

Anyone else have a similar situation?
Thanks! glad to be on the forum, good luck everyone!!😀

Your degrees can help with some schools, but not with all. It depends on the school. I can't speak about Buffalo's requirements, but I can tell you that your PCAT score is competitive and your GPA is not horrendous. You should warrant interviews and so long as you nail your interview, you should get in.

***This is only my opinion and I make no guarantees, expressed or implied.***

Do some searching on the forums here and you will find plenty of success stories from people with less than stellar stats.

Like mentioned above there are many people who were accepted with lesser stats. In my opinion you should apply broadly. Dont put all your eggs in one basket if ya know what i mean. Good luck i believe you will be fine.

thanks so much for the encouragement!! I'm so nervous!! I'm applying to Buffalo, St. John Fisher, LECOM-Bradenton, and NOVA southeastern.

Obviously being from Buffalo already UB is my #1 choice, I just felt so discouraged when I met with admissions. They were kind of harsh with me and pretty told me I had little to no chance of going there. It just hurts that I will have received 2 degrees from UB and I've lived here my whole life and I'll just never be good enough for them. 🙁
Maybe it's a blessing in disguish and a way for me to get out of the cold and make my way to FL?

Thanks again!!!! 😀

Never get discouraged. If pharmacy is what you are passionate about, it does not matter where you study it. Of course it is always nice to stay home😀. Also don't let crabby admissions get to you. They are just mad they do admissions and not pharmacy😉.

Why don't you retake some your prereqs or undergraduate classes at a community college to boost up your undergrad GPA? But then again, it's probably a little too late if you're planning to apply this year.
