Graduating CA-3 Class- Congrads!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks Blade!

Regarding job market, I ended up staying at my training institution (Southeast), but had several offers with just about every business model I've heard of in play.

Average S.E. starting low to mid 200s with 6w vacation. Call varies per location as did involvement in "all cases", it seems more and more wanted fellowship trained folks to join their heart/pedi teams. Almost everyone wanted me to do US blocks, though.

I'm going to stay in academics for a few years and pay it forward-- all the teaching I got from the faculty is a debt I need to repay.

BTW, highest paying job was a crazy job in FL, work LATE every day (relieve the CRNAs the group employs), QX/QZ billing around 8 rooms during the day... do everything, great payor mix, 2 year contract around 5 to start... work over 60hrs/wk... 4 weeks off... partners (8) avg 800, one made over a mil working 40 of 52 weekends...

No one had kids or lives, but dang did they have some cash and toys! To each their own, THAT is the American way!

That absolutely blows. The CRNAs where I work get that with 7 weeks vacation.

Thanks Blade!

Congrats!

Don't let the naysayers on here make you second guess your new position. If you listen to everyone on this forum, you'd think everybody has jobs where they work 7-3, monday-thursday, no call, no weekends, 12 weeks vacation, making at least 750K a year. Sorta like how all the residency applicants on this forum have 250+ step scores, AOA, are published, and have LORs from Stoelting, Miller, and Barash.

Isn't the internet wonderful?

👍

I hope you didn't take my comment as being rude. That was not my intention. Sheridian's stronghold is in the S.E. They will work your arse off for 200k +6 wks and pocket quite a bit for themselves all the while demanding 65hrs/wk.

Academics is an admirable job for sure and the case mix is always good. Great launching pad for your career.

Congrats on your new position. 🙂
