Hi everyone, I'm new on SDN.

I've been reading alot on these forums, and I'm learning alot but its also making me extremely nervous (I'm generally nervous!)

I'm applying for Fall 2011 Cycle, I'm a senior Biology major/Anthropology minor.
cGPA 3.3, sGPA 3.1
Haven't taken DATS yet.

I've done all the regulars in terms of extracurricular: club leadership, TA, volunteering at a Medical clinic, shadowed/assisted 2 dentists

I'm really nervous that even a solid DAT score (my hope is 20+) isn't good enough, I'm reading some of these scores and I'm thinking .....I'm in trouble.

I'm also graduating in May- so I don't know whether to apply for a M.S in Biology, find a job as a Dental assistant, work/research in a lab, or take time off.

This is my biggest concern, what should I do next?!??!?!😕

Your GPA isn't really that bad and people get in with lower than that. If you DO get a solid 20+ DAT score, you'll be fine. You ECs look good.

Something to note: the people on SDN are a very small population of dental school applicants. Don't be afraid of all the high scores you read on here. There are a LOT of other people out there.

Thanks! I hope so

Yup.

If you do well in your MS program, that can only help I would guess. A dental assistant would be a good way to go also, if you just want to make some money instead of paying some 🙂. That would be my choice. I wouldn't just take time off and doing nothing. If you know you want dentistry, do something related to the field, hence why I think the assistant might be a good choice.
