graft rejection

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think autografts are considered the best, because they have pretty good success, and it's real easy to get "your" donor.

this may be a dumb question..
...but r u talking about bone grafts or gingival grafts for mucogingival defects?

To my knowledge, if it's a gingival graft and it doesn't take, the tissue just slowly disappears. I suppose there could be other, more severe reactions if the tissue somehow weren't compatible or certainly if it were a bone graft.

Disclaimer: I'm not a dental student yet. Just pitching in my $0.02 for what I'm aware of.
