1) Basically yes. The highest raw score in Quant. is 800 and in Verbal is 800.
2) Quantitative (out of 800), Verbal (out of 800), Analytical Writing (2 pieces of work are graded and an avg. mark is calculated out of 6.0)
3) Yes
4) No, See 2.
5) No. Many schools look for a 50th percentile or higher though.

I Googled GRE grading and this is one of the first links that came up:

Another thing to keep in mind about the GRE is that it is computer adaptive, meaning the difficulty of the questions will depend on how well you are doing. Because of this, I was told that the first 10-15 questions on each section account for most of your score and to spend the most time on these.

thank you bbas,
Think I'll have to retake my gre, have got less than 1000:scared:😡🙁

Also, for most public health master's programs, at least, the minimum percentile required is about the 50th percentile on the verbal and math sections, however, 60th percentile or above is competitive. On the AWA, most schools require a minimum of 4.5 For me, I scored at the 63rd percentile on the Math, 60th percentile on Verbal, and 88th percentile on the AWA, and thus far I've gotten into MPH programs at some really competitive schools. If you're applying to a PHD, though, the percentile expectations are most likely higher. Good luck🙂
