ETS just recently posted the official scores of many test takers that have taken the test within the past few months.

I guess I'm just curious as to what kinds of scores people are getting on this new scale. It was odd for me because I got 520-620V and 680-780Q on the old scale but received a 155Q and 155V on the new scale, both with a 69% below.

It is hard to tell if these scores are good enough or not.

I would look at the percentile rank. 🙂

This is helpful: http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/gre_guide.pdf

At the bottom are the concordance tables, which show how the new score compares to the old score. It looks like a 155 for quantitative reasoning on the new test compares to a 700-710 on the old test, and a 155 for verbal reasoning on the new test compares to a 530 on the old test. So your overall score on the old test would have been a 1230-1240. Hope this helps.

As a side note, could anyone who has taken the new test and gotten their scores post the score ranges that they were given immediately after taking the test along with their actual scores? I am trying to figure out if the new scores typically end up being at the low end or the high end of the range. Thanks!

For me they were at the high end of both.

I took the GRE on October 23, wasn't supposed to get my scores until December 1 but they were up this morning...

Quantitative:
Predicted range: 720 - 800
Actual score: 159 = 82nd percentile
Compares to 750 on old scale

Verbal
Predicted range: 750 - 800
Actual score 167 = 98th percentile
Compares to 710 on old scale

It's weird how the verbal ended up being so much lower than predicted but I'm not going to complain about a 98th percentile. I just needed 1100 to qualify for the program I want to get into so I'm happy.

I took the test in October and the range I received was 1050-1250. Just looked at the GRE site and Verbal=156 which is 550 on the old test and Quantitative=147 which equals to 580 on the old test. So total score is 1130. Good thing I'm applying to a Psy.D. program and everything else on my application is great. I'm disappointed with my low score because while it is higher than when I first took a practice test and higher than my scores from years ago, it is still really low for Ph.D. programs.

Mine were on the low end. I took the test on September 24th and the computer gave me a predicted range of 670-780 for VR and 730-800 for QR. I wound up with a VR 165/QR 157 which by percentile, correlates to a 690/730. I couldn't have gotten much closer to the very bottom of the range.
