Okay, feel better now??

Sorry to hear it, but I have never gone back and looked at what I submitted as I'm sure I'll find something not perfect.
Nothing you can change now, and it will only lead to angst and agony. Let it go, and work on making those secondaries rock!!
Good luck to you.

I was fortunate to get a handful of interview invites last season and I printed out my secondaries over again to look over them. The night before the interview I found a major typo in one and a fact error in another about the school's history. I ended up getting accepted to both schools so a single typo will not be the iceberg to your titanic.

Unless you accidentally typed that you like to eat babies or something . . .

@emraldragon that's actually comforting!! I've heard so many disaster stories. Even one of the committee members said if they saw a typo they would be VERY upset about it so I was freaked a little. I can't believe I missed it! AMCAS ended up changing the order of my activities, and I guess whenever I read through them this one was around the bottom of the list and it was a tense error :\ poo!

hahah yeah I do! I actually wasn't going to, but got the verification and my GPA had lowered...so I read through that and kept going (big mistake...I know...I know...). Thanks for the good luck/vibes....right back at ya!! 😀

For what is worth, my brother had 2 major typos in his U of Michigan secondary, and got accepted. I guess you don't have to spell Ophthalmology correctly to be a medical student. They look 5K apps, so unless they are the interviewer, it probably won't get a major ding. And by the time you get to the interview stage, you have other things going for you. Don't sweat it.

"These are the reasons why I would contribute to diversity at Y school of medicine" - on my submitted secondary to X school of medicine.

Result: Accepted

haha, I was JUST about to post that this is the only type of typo that can truly be fatal. Guess not even then!

"Medicine is where I can synthesize my interests in patient interaction and the complexity of biology in an encompassing career that challenges me to apply personal and medical skillets." In my PS when I meant to say skillsets. I had about 15 IIs by the first week of October so it really didn't matter.

Yeah, they were curious to see your medical-grade skillets!

Charlie517, I feel ya! Have not looked at my application since I submitted. One of my letter writers that I had not asked to proofread my PS noticed while writing my letter and told me that I wrote "peaked my interest" instead of "piqued my interest." I had legitimately never realized that piqued was a word before that moment, and apparently my 15 other coworkers/doctors/professors that read it did not notice or realize it either. Here's to hoping that adcoms will be the same way 😛

hahhaha these posts are great! Definitely making me feel a little better to not worry about it. At the end of the day..nothing I can do about it now! hahaha. @Ace Khalifa that's awesome that you got in!!! Mine was not as "bad"....I changed my sentence around and forgot to delete a word, so it reads "and was learned" instead or learned. Literally wanted to facepalm....think I did actually.
