Wondering if there are any programs or avenues of obtaining funding/reimbursement for journal subscriptions and/or the volumes of books we read as residents.

Already in. Not taking GI Bill.

Does $2500 CME cover anything like this?

I believe it depends on the state. MN and ND will give you a one time allocation up to 2500 dollars per year. It has to be used on one item such as a CME trip. The won't pay for mulitiple journal subscriptions and later give you 500 for medical equipment. Most providers in my state do an annual conference with their CME money. I would call your State Surgeon's office for clarifciation on your state's policy.
