I just got an invitation from uPenn for an interview. Any body who has gone through it or any suggestions for the interview. This is kind of the only interview I have got so far.

hi Priya,
Congrats  for ur score and the interview at Upenn. The interview is very casual. they ask lots of questions about you and ur schooling . they do not ask abt dentistry so no need to study . just remember to take your orginal certificates and documents. that's all. All the best ! 🙂

Hi,
Best Wishes for the first interview!!
At UPENN they pretty much call most of the candidates who apply for an interview,U can be relaxed as their interview is very laid back, they ask questions based on general themes like how u came to this country, when u came here ,hobbies etc..well,I guess they have an unpredictable criteria for selection...b'cos people with 80+ may get selected but not the ones with 90+..
Anyway Best of luck!!!

Hi there. Few general things to try and help. First off, just relax...look at this as an opportunity. Second, just be yourself. Third, make sure you know why you want to be a dentist and why UPenn attracts you as a prospective student. These things hold true for any dental school interview. If you are really passionate about becoming a dentist your interviewers will KNOW because it will show...test scores and GPAs can't talk.. only you can so make sure they know who YOU are before you leave. Sorry if general, but I only had one interview also(not at PENN) and I was accepted and that was my approach so I figure it might help. Let's both bat 1.00. Good luck! Oh yeah, try to avoid saying "kind of" too much, it's okay if it slips once or twice though, just relax and you'll do fine.

All you can do is your best!!

Thanx to all of you for replying. I hope I'll get through with the help of such valuable suggestions

any advanced standing student in at upenn?
i am really curious to know what they look for in a candidate.

So I took this interview. It was not bad at all. Very casual atmosphere. They look for something in a candidate and I believe that is not confidence, your scores or your knowledge about dentistry.

when will they let you know?

They said they'll be deciding on March 1st and by March 5th, we'll come to know. After that they'll start calling wait list people around 15th March.

Priya and Sabi,
Hi! What's up? Just wanted to say hi. Have you guys gone for your BU interviews? How are you coping with waiting for the UPenn interview reults? I'm counting the days and hoping for the best. Alright then hope to hear from you. Bye for now!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Kemi. So nice to see you on this board. I am still waiting for the response from uPenn. Well it is hard to wait but they said that they will reply between March 1st and March 5 or even after that if they place you on the waiting list. So I am not that worried right now. I'll start worrying after the first. Also I have not heard from BU so far. Whatever happens, save your worries. Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

I found out from U Penn roughly 1 week after I interviewed there. I was there 2/8 and called them on 2/18. Coincidentally that was the day when they sent out the acceptance letter and packet of info (which I have yet to receive). I found them to be quite efficient with the notification process.

Hi Stanford, are you talking about the advanced standing position in UPenn or the 1st year DMD program. You made me worried. Please reply soon

Hi,
I am a newbie here. To all those advanced standing hopefuls out there, I have a question. Does anybody interview at Indiana University dental school and if they did, did anyone hear anything from them yet?. I interviewed last year Nov and still hadnt heard a peep from them. The interview was for this year program. Thanks in advance.

I am really sorry guys... I was talking about the DMD program. My apologies for mis-reading the thread.
