Has anyone filled out the recommendations section yet?

My school doesn't have a Committee, our Pre-Health Advising just compiles our 4-5 letters and sends our evaluation file to the schools through VirtualEvals.

Should this be marked as "Individual Letters?" Thanks in advance.

There is a box for VirtualEvails.

If I were you, I'd just check the committee/virtual eval box, since that's essentially what your pre-health advising office is acting as by compiling your letters and sending them out for you. I think the med school is just trying to keep track of who they should be expecting the letters from.

hi guys,
someone asked earlier about entering in the lab courses--i'm also having trouble with that. it seems that when i put my mouse there the cursor doesn't appear (in the shaded areas for the lab courses).

do you think it'd be okay to fill in everything in the pdf file on the computer and then fill in the lab courses by hand? or has somebody figured out how to make it work?

thanks in advance 🙂

cruz

yeah me too. anyone?

so in the course section u can add more courses that fit into the categories. like if i took an extra physics course, can i add that in addition to the courses that fulfill the prereqs???

whoa. **You have been selected to take part in our pilot online application program. umm did anyone else get this??

I would also like to know if we can include additional courses...I did not so hot in all my pre-reqs, and was hoping to add at least one or two upper level courses, like Biochem, or Cell Bio, that I did really well in....I just don't want them to write me off on the basis of pre-reqs alone, since I do have an upward trend...

Obviously they will see your transcript and your upper division courses on AMCAS, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. There are 3 slots for bio and chem, so you could probably squeeze in 1 extra class though.

This is a stupid question but when they say premed/advisory committe letter only....does that mean my committee letter and the other letters written by professors that are included in my online LOR packet....or do I have to pick the third option which says "submission of adivisor letter and submitting individual letters"?

-I think the individual letters refers to letters being mailed separately, correct????

My interpretation is if you have a premed committee leteter AND individual letters, you check the third option regardless of how they are mailed. I think they want to know what kind of letters you are sending so they don't lose them.

My committee does the same thing: writes a composite, and attaches the other letters. I'm interpreting GW's question as an inquiry about where the letter/s are coming from and how many to expect. I'm just going to check "committee" even though my committee letter will have individual letters attached to it. *shrug*

I don't have a lot of time, otherwise I would go ahead and post websites and questions, but the following schools have secondaries available either as a pdf on their admissions website or by creating an online account regardless of AMCAS submission:

Albert Einstein
Columbia
Eastern Virginia
SUNY Downstate
Tulane

There definitely could be others available, but these are the ones I've found.

Good luck!

Don't forget Meharry has theirs online also.

FYI: On the EVMS web site it asks that applicants not send in the secondary until they are asked to do so. So, yeah, it's available to look at and maybe do a draft of, but it shouldn't be submitted until we're invited to send it in.

This applies to a few others as well, at least AECOM.

Yea thats what I'm thinking, but not sure abt it. I didnt see any explanation about LOR options anywhere. Oh well I guess if its wrong they will see my letters anyways, so it probly wont affect it.

I think Johns Hopkins secondary is up. There is a link to it on their website.

Also does anyone have any info about Einstein College of Medicine? I know it has a Jewish affiliation but is it transient like duke and methodist or georgetown and catholic? Or is it more like Loma Linda and seventh day adventists?

As far as I know it's not a strong affiliation. You don't need to be Jewish or anything to be accepted, for example. Some of AECOM's policies that reflect their affliation are things like, the library is closed on Jewish holidays.

Hey guys,

Has anyone had any luck with the text formatting on this GW app? When doing the essays, it just keeps going on the first line but doesn't move down to the second...unless you move your cursor there...and text disappears...I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one having issues with this...I'm almost tempted to handwrite at this point...any help would be much appreciated

There is a typewriter function in Acrobat that allows you to place a text box anywhere and fill it in. There is only one font style, but you can change the text size as well as add in bold, underline, etc. (use keyboard shortcuts for that CTRL+B for example)

where is this typewriter function...either im just an idiot or maybe it is only available through acrobat professional...in any case, i cant find it when i open the GW form through acrobat...i guess ill just try manually formatting it by moving the cursor down line by line

I'm using Acrobat Professional 7.0, so maybe it's only available there.

For me it's under Tools -> Typewriter
