Hey all-
I was pumped today when I got a letter from GWU inviting me for an interview. Has anybody interviewed there before? What is the normal schedule? They say it lasts 3-4.5 hours, and mine starts at 10:15....so do I just show up, they take my coat and bag and send me straight into an interview? They mention there's an interview with a faculty member and student...has anybody gone through this before? Any help would be greatly apprecaited.

You show up, sign in at the security desk (don't forget to get a badge), head up to the room and then the admissions officer shows up and tells you all about the school, then you get to go back to the room and eat lunch with a few students while interviewers call you. (Which isn't that fun, every time I sat down in front of the food I was called away! And I was soooo hungry) But the interviews take place in the library right there so you can't be late to your interview or get lost. It's very friendly and the admissions officer who gives the standard applicant-lecture is the most fun I've had yet!

Question -

How long did it take you (from the time your secondary was confirmed/completed) to get an interview at GWU??

Thanks for you help!

are the interviews laid back, or are they a bit more "high pressure?" What's it like to be interviewed by a current student?

Congratulations! I am also going in for an interview this month to GWU. From what I've read and hearing back from people that interviewed there, the whole process seems to be rather informal and relaxed.

Here is pocwana's website which has interview feedback from GWU (and other schools). Read through it; it'll give you an idea of what to expect.

The most common things seem to be to relax and let your interviewers get to know you- lots of questions about why medicine, why GW, what do you do for fun, tell me about yourself etc. Other than that- what is the role of a physician in society and what will you do if not med school are two common questions.

Good luck!

Also- fatmike: I think I sent my secondary out by August 25th and the file was complete then. I got the invite to interview in the mail on the 12th this month.
