Hello All,

I am new to using this SDN thing, so hopefully everything goes right after I send this message. I am asking for some help and assistance with deciding on whether to attend school next year at George Washington or the University of Cincinnati. I am doing the Air Force HPSP, so money isn't so much of a factor for me. I've been told by everyone that I should go where I will be the happiest, but I don't KNOW where I will be the happiest. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions about either of the schools or any comments. Any words of advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Are you nice? If so, Come to GWU! I think both will be awesome educations...but I plan on making the next four years at G Dubb a non-stop party!

(yes, I'm aware that at about week three I'll realize this is really naive and become completely disillisuioned - but I'm gonna make it a good three weeks)

How can you pass up going to school with someone as funny as Brickhouse? I mean come on... oh yeah I'll be at GW too... people are generally REALLY nice there... but then again I can't speak for U of Cinc. What were your different impressions when you went for interviews?

I?m facing a similar decision between GWU and Loyola. I don?t know anything about Cincinnati, but I?ve been hearing great things about GW, especially that it provides a wide range of clinical experiences and interesting out-of-class opportunities.

People tell me that GW students are really friendly and love the GW experience, but I haven?t been able to get a read on if the administration and teachers are ?student friendly? and how attentive they are to the needs of the students. Does anyone have any feeling about this?

i was gonna say both are good schools...but if you are truly undecided about both...then maybe you should go to a place where i can vouch for good people being there....which in this case is gw....brickhouse is the light. follow her. 🙂

i dont know anyone attending cinci...but they are a solid school and i applied there cause they have a good peds program which is what im into...

Speaking for UC here, great school and if money isn't a problem then it is a toss up. If you are doing HPSP then you may want to be near GW since a lot of the military things are there, but also you may want to consider that your are going to be military for a while after, so possibly going to a different scene would be good for the first 4 years.

Trust me, we party pretty hard, in fact we get paid to have parties (the school covers the costs of the EtOH and party favors up to about $200, plus a bunch of pub crawls etc). But in addition to that, the class is very close, and we do have a great cirriculum.

One thing that I will say is that UC is spending over $1billion over the next 10 years on improvements, so while it is already a good school, it will be amazing when the new one is finished, the downside is that it wont be finished until late 2006-07, therefore you will be studying w/construction nearby. You also might want to consider if you want to do research, or EM, Peds as UC is one of the best in the US for that.

Either way, both are fine schools, with excellent reps, so maybe sit down, make a list of + & -'s and also discuss w/your friends/parents/SO, a lot of times they can offer advice that you don't think about.
