Ok, so I have almost never combed my hair except for rare occasions. I have definitely never gotten a haircut FOR a formal occasion such as this. I am going later today but I have no idea what to tell the hair-cutter-person. Does anyone have any suggestions? I guess I will just comb it to the side or something but I have no idea. Is it possible to just say "make me look good" or has anyone had bad experiences with that? Arrg.

tell them you need something that looks at least decently presentable for an interview. it doesn't have to be 50 year old businessman style, it just can't look incredibly sloppy.

Make sure your hair isn't too long. Your front should be above your eyebrows.

Don't go bald either, it looks intimidating if you're a big guy.

You have two choices -- (1) tell your "hair-cutter-person" that you need a business/professional interview look and let them run with it, or (2) find a hairstyle in a magazine that you like, or an old photo of you when your hair looked good etc and bring that in and say I want it this way.

Drat... and here I am with two years to go and a determination to not cut my hair again until it hits my shoulders...

I wouldn't think that a long-haired doctor would be outrageous... 😛

Being a long haired doctor is fine, but you get to start that AFTER you finish residency and are working for yourself and no longer have superiors evaluating you. To get into med school however, you have to look professional. Sorry.

Curses.

I might survive.

So, hair spiked in front for a guy...good idea or bad idea?

Wear a hat. Maybe of the trucker variety. Also consider berets.

Oh No, do you really think so? I done the shaved head and a goatee look for years (and I am sort of a big guy--6'2" 250). I never even considered the fact that I might want hair for my interview.

I really don't think I have that tough guy look, more like the (UGH) teddy bear look. Anyway, do you think it's intimidating even in a suit and huge smile?

P.S. The shirt collar will hide all of my neck tatoos anyway--:laugh::laugh:

Any girls out there who know how to style their hair for the interview? Mine is longer than mid back, so I really don't know what to do with it. And I'm not sure that a ponytail is fancy enough...
