It seems like there are certain specialties that are really popular amongst my classmates now and I'm curious if thats the case across the board...Also I think it would be interesting to see what the spread is amongst current 3rd years. 😛

which are the ones that seem to be popular in your class? I would say a lot of people I talked to in mine seem to want ortho, anesthesia, or some IM specialty. I think last years class had a ton of ENT people from my school.

Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine and Peds. Everyone. Don't know why...

Future otolaryngologist here.

My class is big on primary care and big on EM. A surprising amount of people leaning general surgery as well, including several I would have never pegged as the type.

The class of '10 at my school has 5 people TOTAL trying to match into ANY surgical field (1 plastics, 1 ENT, 1 Uro, 2 Gen Surg). That's crazy.

Peds! It just clicked a few days ago (I was a week into the rotation). I didn't think anything would click for me. I was a little depressed over hating OBGYN, which I thought I had wanted to do since high school. I'm SO happy that I found something I love. It's a huge weight off my shoulders.

Ortho. Its funny how opthomology got its own answer choice instead of my lumped under surgical subspecialties, lol. Yeah we have like 8 people trying to do ortho this year at my school, which is about average.
