I got accepted to usc dental a while back, and was wondering.ive always been strong academically in college, graduated with cumulative 3.88 gpa(biology) so I know the didactic portion of dental school will be ok for me,just got to study.
I’m just a little scared about the Manual dexterity and hand skills of dental school is it a learned skill or is it a skill your kind of born with, cause I’m not the most artistic person.if I work hard and practice will I get good at waxing,prepping,filling,...etc.cause i do have a strong work ethic
Thanks!

Not many people are naturally artistic or good with their hands. Like most skills, it requires practice, quality work ethic and patience.

Hand skills are a toss up.

I thought I would be great. I enjoy creative things, working with my hands. I am actually pretty terrible and it takes me forever to learn.

You will see others in your class that cant walk through a hallway without tripping, or practice once and their preps are chiseled from the gods.

You will be fine but if you aren't the best or a slow learner try to devote more time to hand skills than classes.
