Hello all. I have been checking in at student doctor for the past few months but this is my first post. I am going to spare everyone my current situation for now but I do have a few quick questions that i couldn't find a solid answer for while searching thru old posts. I am starting to take the prereq's for med school in a few weeks. I am taking Biology and Chemistry. My first question is do you think it is a disadvantage taking them at West Chester University which is a solid state school as oppossed to Temple given the fact that I was a non-science major who graduated from undergrad in 2005 with a gpa of 2.8? My second question is for schools such as temple that offer two different basic science classes; one for science and pre-med majors and one for non-science majors, would it benefit me to take the pre-med sciences given the fact I am in need of some serious gpa enhancement and cannot afford a grade that is not an A?

West Chester has a great premed program, and the area alone would make up my mind. I'm assuming you are familiar with Temples location which is much less desirable than Chester county. Have you looked into Penn State, can't remember the name off the top of my head but they have a satellite in Malvern that offers prereqs.

Thanks ejw. I am very familiar with both areas and live just about equal distance to both. My only concern with taking the prereqs at a state school would be the disadvantage due to the fact that they do not have their own medical school and Temple could probably help guide me to volunteer and research opportunities better. Also does anyone have input or an opinion on whether to take the science or non-science major science classes. Any input is appreciated.

-Thanks

I thought this was a Happy New Year thread, not another rescue me from my own poor performance!?! You may want to work on your thread titles there champ 🙄
