Am confused. You're a prelim intern of some sort, applying to other programs (for > PGY2, in something like Derm, Rads)? If this is the case, no one should have a problem with that, that's totally expected.

Or you're a categorical intern, belonging to a program (such as IM or GS), and you're trying to switch programs (within the same specialty). Someone might balk at that. Of course many other factors come into play.

What were you told your professional issues were? Sleep with the wrong person, say the wrong thing, write for the wrong med, are you a loud Lakers fan?
 
Sorry things are rough right now. Some thoughts as an outsider with limited info:

1) I have a hard time believing that what you’re perceiving from colleagues has anything whatsoever to do with your attempted transfer. I’ve known a few categorical interns who switched fields intentionally and all were universally beloved and supported. The truth is everyone is too focused on themselves to give a flip about your career plans.

2) based on that, i would suggest getting a handle on the professionalism issues ASAP. Based solely on the situation, I’m going to guess you’ve been phoning it in a bit, maybe some tardiness or documentation issues, maybe attitude issues, maybe slacking a bit on the scut work. All are understandable given that it’s not your first choice field and you recently failed to match your preferred specialty...again.

3) hit up your hospital employee counseling service ASAP. You cite depression and anxiety, both of which can play into poor performance if not managed well so make sure you’re taking care of your mental health.

4) if you want to get back on track, reach out to some seniors or chiefs you trust and get along with. See if you can get some guidance on specifics and how you can improve things going forward. Some of the best feedback I got as a junior resident came from my seniors, so make sure to use that resource. They were interns very recently and probably have a good sense of what you’re doing wrong.

I don't think it's either. It sounds like they tried to match into specialty A but then matched into specialty B as a backup. They then saw that a position opened up at a different hospital in specialty A and they went for it, and failed.

Regardless, I can't see how any of this would have any bearing on how OP is being treated by their colleagues unless OP was walking around saying "I'm outta here, see you losers later" before failing to match into this new program.
 
I don't know, I could sorta see the program being upset that the person made a commitment to them and is then looking to leave. I know when I was interviewing with programs in my backup specialty there was concern about whether I actually planned to complete the program or if I was going to keep trying for the preferred speciality. I had failed to match the prior year in my preferred specialty so it was pretty obvious that my backup specialty was a backup even without one of my letter writer's keeping the preferred specialty in one line of the letter of recommendation. I answered truthfully that I had no intention of continuing to try for it if I matched at their program. If I later made efforts to leave they would rightfully be upset. Not saying that is what is happening here (or that the OP made similar claims then backed out on them), just that I could see a scenario where the program could be angry.
