hi,

i'm an ms1 and am considering pathology, but am pretty clueless about how competitive it is to get into a residency program. i'm interested in the program at harbor ucla. i'd like to match somewhere in southern CA. what type of experience do i need to have to be competitive? board scores i should aim for? should i spend my summer doing research? (i currently have no research experience, performing at the mean of my class, attending med school in CA.)

any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

Habour UCLA isn't UCLA is it? I don't think it is. Never heard of it. I can't imagine it is very competitive.

Kinda like that trick Northwestern-Chicago and northwestern-Evanston. You'd think the bigger program would be Evanston because that's the city you think of when you think Nortwesterh, but it turns out it is Chicago.

thanks for your reply. no, it's not the UCLA program. are you currently doing a fellowship in dermpath?

I know lots of people who trained at Harbor, which is a county hospital in Long Beach/Torrance and really has nothing to with UCLA at all. Given traffic of the 405 they might as well be on opposite coasts.
