umm i have to say the MCAT!!!!

actually i also ahve to say the verbal
damn you verbal, damn you to hell

•verbal reasoning, no ifs, ands, or buts about it•••••Depends on the person. For me, verbal was no problem, but physical sciences ate my lunch!

Hmm I'd have to say Verbal because it's so tricky!! then I'd have to say Physical.. because are we really supposed to get in to those boring ass passages about quantum mechanics?? and then I'd say bio.. only because it's last and stupid mistakes lead to my low scores!! Wow.. I"m not bitter or anything!!

The time constraint on the verbal section, followed by the diffculty of the physical section. And that's the fact - jack.

For me, the time when I was doing the test flew really fast but the time in between was really boring. Lots of waiting and standing in line.

While quantum mechanics is difficult, it is not listed in the MCAT student manual, nor have I ever heard of it appearing on the exam in the years I have been tutoring. Fluorescence has made it on the MCAT a few times, but that's about the closest thing to quantum mechanics. You might want to scratch that subject of your to review list.

And I'd have to add yet another vote for verbal.

The hardest part for me was the night before the test. Midnight: not asleep yet. 1 AM: Still not asleep...getting worried. 3 AM: My God! Fall asleep already! You aren't going to be able to stay awake for the whole test. 4:30 AM: Christ. I've blown it. My brain will be mush tommorow. 4:45ish? mubmle...snore...zzzzzz 6:45 BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. 7:15 AM: Chugging coffee while driving (not advisable to drink coffee unless you are an addict).

Somehow it turned out okay, though. I scored a couple points lower on Physical Science than I had been on the practice tests, but otherwise things went well. The dates I brought kept me going...I munched them between each section. I also thought talking to people between sections about things other than the horror we were experiencing helped.

Next worst thing: Waiting for scores!

Realizing 3 weeks before the test that you have 3 months of studying left to do.

I thought waiting for the scores was by far the worst part. I graded all of my practice tests within a couple hours of finishing them, but the two month wait for the real score was terrible. Every morning I woke up with a different score in my head.

Mudd,
so picky? just the basics of quantum.. calm down.. the passages can be on anything regardless of what you know about the topic :)

Verbal was hard, but at least it was the first section. I had the most energy during verbal. If I had to do verbal as the last section... that would have been torture.
I feel really sorry for the people next year who have to do PS first then Verbal... that's going to suck!

the test-taking time was the easiest part for me. going to sleep the night before (doctor octopus, were you in my bed with me?), waiting for the proctors to show up (1 hr late), waiting for everyone to be seated, waiting during the breaks/lunch... as far as the actual test goes, staying focused and remembering to convert units during the physical science section was the hardest part. but that's just my take on it.

i woke up at about 5AM the morning before the mcat so i would be dead tired that night - luckily i was out like a light cause there was a wonderfully timed frat party outside that night hah - during our verbal section some guy came out with a lawnmover right next to our building (windows open) - was funny (not to all i think).

Sorry you took the comment that way, because the tone of my fingers when hitting the keyboard was not what made it to you through cyberville. I was trying to lightly comment and I guess that failed.

Anyway, on a serious note, you were worried about your scores in another thread. Before you do much else, you might want to prioritize what you review. No matter how basic, quantum mechanics is not tested. There are better topics to pound on. Good luck.

yep - agreed.

MCAT essay:

"the time dependent schreodingers equation is more useful than the hamiltonian in quantum mechanics"

Define what it means to you, a case in which it is not true, and resolve your argument.

riiight - i would probably place that right below shark gill structure and function.
goodluck though!

-jot•••••i would have cried if i saw anything p chem related on the MCAT. There's not a day that goes by that I dont think to myself "Why the hell did i ever take quantum mech?"

well I didn't think quantum mechanics would stir up a frenzy. I'm not studying it by the way.. my TPR teacher just happened to mention it and we were doing g-chem.. you know energy levels.. quantum numbers etc... so anyway.. enough about quantum mechanics...how bout dem bears!? Just kidding.. have a good night

Not having enough time was the worst thing. :p

What SURPRISED me was the difficulty of the general chem. section, as well the fact that there was more physics equation-memorization required than I had been told to expect.

The infrequent bathroom breaks and the headaches caused by caffeine overdoses

The sense of impending doom the month before the test. Couldn't sleep or eat - the only thing that carried me through that test was adrenaline.

It all turned out alright though - you just never know.

Verbal, because I am not a morning person. My brain is not functioning at 100% until say 11am, so I had a hard time focusing during that section.
I think that's the reason I did my worst on that section coupled with the fact that my nerves don't wear off till at least a half hour into the test.

If Verbal was the last section, I'm sure I would have done at least a point or two higher.
