harvard acceptances?

Here are the stats from today (up to this post).

Accepted URM NP : 3
Accepted NP : 7
Accepted HST/NP : 1
Accepted HST : 1

So that is a total of 12 in. Assuming only 10% of applicants are on SDN (and post), you could estimate that many acceptances have already gone out. Also, assuming people have not checked their email because they were not expecting anything today etc, there are probably a lot more acceptances that will go up here late.

Thus, sadly, I think this really is about it for Harvard this year.

Someone on the previous page called to confirm-- there are no more acceptances going out (other than off the waitlist, I suppose). If you're not in now, you're not getting in.

+1 for NP :hardy: !! Wow, I'm still in shock. I was not expecting this news to come via email, and to come so soon. Talk about march madness. This email is madness lol Now I just pray I don't get an email later tonight saying, "just kidding" or "oops wrong email, failed".

OMG...accepted at Harvard!!! After recieving 7 waitlist letters from top schools this is such a relief!!!

I don't know how to describe my feeling. I just came back from my last final, checked SDN... got excited... immediately checked my Email...NOTHING... I will experience the worst spring break ever. I just want to congratulate everyone who got into Harvard. You all deserve it. And I also wanted to congratulate the rest, because you tried your best and one day you will become a physician who can make a difference in the world.

Great outlook. I think after the initial sadness comes more of a "why, Harvard, why?!", but hopefully that feeling won't last all of your spring break! Don't let it. We're going to be excellent doctors no matter where we go. 🙂

Second that. I think USC is where I get my medical education and I am very happy about that. It is true that Harvard was my primary goal, but it's OK. I like USC a lot and I know no matter where I go, I will have all of you as my future peers and friends. Good luck to you all.:luck:
 
Well you can add me to the list of people who have been rejected. I just wanted to say I really love everyone's positive attitude about things. Not getting into Harvard isn't the end of the world...in fact it's normal.

Anywho, I am considering UMich, WashU, and Duke right now so I am really happy😛
 
Nothing for me. Oh well, I can't say it wasn't expected, but I was still holding onto that little ounce of hope. I can't say I would've chosen HMS over the other school I am waiting on anyways, so whatev. Here's to penn! PLZ TAKE ME

It looks like I'll be heading to Boston. HST was my top choice, and I'm so glad I actually got in.

Congrats on Chicago again! I had to give up my dream of living in the Windy City when they gave me the axe...U Chicago's rejection was the most painful one I've had 😛 Good luck with med school!
 
Speaking of Chicago, if Penn doesn't work out, thats where I may be headed as well (NU). YAY!

I haven't gotten the rejection yet. But no email = no acceptance, right? Anywho, a friend of mine has also been accepted to the NP program, just to put it out there🙂
 
i can't find a decent waitlist thread from the past few years. is it a bad sign that most of them trail off after only a few posts?

See, even if all of us didn't get into Harvard, we're still going to be great doctors. It's our job to make sure that we make the most out of our medical education regardless of what school we attend.

I guess I wouldn't expect much movement from the Harvard waitlist anyway. They already accept more than the class size, to account for people that will choose other schools. But I'm pretty positive less than half of those people will turn down harvard, which is probably what would be needed to get going on the waitlist.
 
you know, about an hour ago, i felt like **** about this whole thing. but looking through this forum, i realize that all the ppl who interviewed at HMS are truly the cream. soo for everyone who didn't get in, i know that yall are gonna be pimping it up at washu, duke, stanford, penn, hopkins, etc. etc. and we are all still gonna be amazing. it stings like a bee right now, but just bc we didnt get in to HMS doesnt mean we are not gonna still do really well in life. i guess it's just important to put everything into perspective 🙂
 
lol, I think I'm the only one who was looking forward to turning down Harvard...but c'est la vie, they saw through my ruse. But you are absolutely right entranced, what Harvard says is not the law - just cause we weren't accepted doesn't mean we are not qualified. We will all do wonderful things at other great schools.

The 2006 thread is quite informative (a current HMS student/former HMS waitlist member posts!). The HMS waitlist doesn't start moving until REALLY late- the end of June. That's probably why the threads generally just trail off... because by then, everyone has moved away from SDN and drifted towards planning for school. Yes, there's hope in the HMS waitlist... but it seems like HELL.

I recall reading that the HMS waitlist is ~50 for NP (probably way smaller for HST). The selectivity of the waitlist ensures that they aren't just stringing people along- if you're waitlisted, you still have a chance.

You guys rock, yeah a while ago I felt terrible, but we ARE gonna make awesome doctors no matter where we go.

Hah, I wanted to turn Harvard down as well. Damn they must be trained to catch this sort of thing :laugh:. But I just want to congratulate everyone who has interviewed at Harvard. The applicant pool is phenomenal and I can only imagine how difficult it is to choose between applicants. Good luck everyone!

Got my rejection letter too in Cambridge. Well, at least there's no false hope left, but it sure hurts a lot more now.

Someone called the admissions office and they said that if you were accepted, you should've gotten the email today. So I think there will not be any more "waves," jawesome as that might be. Oh well. I'm waiting for the snail mail now...
 
Let's keep each other informed on waitlist stuff. The old waitlist thread that SBBunny found seems to trail off a little bit towards the end, because people (understandably) decided not to log on here anymore once they got off the waitlist.

I'm fully expecting a pure rejection though, just for the record...

Although I really want Harvard, I rather get a straight rejection. I am tired of waiting... False hope makes me sick.
 
any other news today guys? rejects or waitlists? no news for me.
 
I don't think I've seen anyone on here get a waitlist decision. Man these things are rarer than acceptances!
