harvard acceptances?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just got my waitlist letter in the mail today. It was postmarked March 21, and I live in the Boston area.

FYI the waitlist package came with an FAQ that said there are approximately 50 NP waitlisters and 25 HST waitlisters. They fully expect to make offers to kids on the waitlist, depending on the movement of their initial acceptances since they offer more acceptances than they have spots.

They also said that their waitlist is not ranked, and they encourage waitlisters to continually update their files.

Finally, they said in recent years they typically make offers in late May through mid-June. Those offered spots off the waitlist will be contacted directly by an HMS Admissions Officer via email and telephone and will be given a specific timeframe to respond to the offer, so you wouldn't need to accept it right away.

Congratulations to everyone accepted on a job well done! Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear! And for those who receive a rejection, I'm sure you'll be great doctors no matter where you go!

Just got a letter (expecting a rejection)...

*opens*

...

yep rejection.

Haha, I'm waiting for my breathtaking opening of my Harvard letter...

But I'll be doing it in lab. In a fume hood. With a bottle of acetone and a bunsen burner.

1956GoldTop,
where do you live? on east coast or elsewhere?
just so we know when to expect the letter.

Northeast.

My guess is that rejections are postmarked on the 20th and waitlists on teh 21st.

Congratulations! I am sure you will get a spot. I wish you the best luck. I have not checked my mail today yet, but I don't expect anything... I live in California 🙁

got my rejection letter in the mail today. and just for the ppl who are patiently awaiting it, i live far from boston and my letter was dated march 19th.

Hey guys...I don't know if you'd want to give it a try...but the financial aid site is up and working.

Happy Easter!

Yo I got my rejection down here in Texas yesterday, 3/22

Umm...so people in Texas got the rejection already? I live in Michigan...wheres mine? 😵

You may have gotten waitlisted 🙂 (which i'm fairly sure went out a day later)

Though I guess it doesn't matter, since he only wanted the chance to reject Harvard right? 😉

Shhh...haha...my dream of turning them down may still come true!

Edit: dude, that is one sexy mcat SnoPearl O_O

Nah, when it comes down to it, like getting 4-5 questions right is what separates us...so not statistically significant.

I was rejected, and I am so glad about it. I was having a real hard time thinking about choosing between Hopkins and another school (Harvard and UPenn in this case), and I'm pretty sure it came through in my interview. Hopkins was my favorite choice, but the others were not far behind, and this rejection takes such a load off...I wonder if they use the list of where else you got in to determine whom to accept/reject/waitlist?

both of u have incredibly sexy mcat scores. makes my 37 seem subpar! :/

It really is luck that gets you a score 37 and above, as I remember I was getting 36-38 on all of my practice AAMC tests just prior to my actual test. I think for me, my worst passage on the test was probably an experimental one heh.

Got my rejection yesterday. So sad...but life still goes on. 🙂

hey everyone in the midwest,

did anyone get a rejection in the midwest? i think someone from michigan posted that he/she didn't get anything. i am in the same situation. maybe a waitlist, but i would say more likely that mail was stalled because of all the snow?

if anyone in the midwest got a rejection already, please let us know.

also, do you think they call health advisors to see where else ppl got in? that wouldn't be fair, and it seems that ppl who got in have also gotten into other top schools.

I think schools can't see where else you were accepted until they actually accept you. Does this mean you're definitely going to Hopkins?

Edit: Oh wait, you said you were thinking about Penn vs. Hopkins too.

...and makes my 31 look like, what, sub-sub-subpar? I was shocked when I got the interview at Harvard. Of course, with all the 38s and 39s., I really had no chance.

did u receive a rejection? you may still have a chance at the WL if you haven't gotten anything in the mail yet.

I feel your pain. I was lifted up by getting the interview just to be smacked down with the r-bomb.

The rejection was good, because now I don't have to decide between my top choice -- Rochester -- and Harvard.

Life still goes on...Have a great week everyone! 🙂

Reeejected in NYC. This is my first post-interview rejection. Well, THANK GOD it isn't a waitlist, because I cannot handle any more waitlists. Seriously. Time to start harrassing Columbia (a better fit for me anyway).

yes, it IS time...

Can you wait listed folks use the financial aid site? And if so, is it really your email and AMCAS ID that is used for the login?

Received nothing in AL, and I get my mail at a PO box which means I'm 1-2 days faster than everyone else in receiving things.

It is really your e-mail and AMCAS ID that are used for login. (I was accepted though, so I don't know if waitlisted folks can log in).

wait-listed for HST, missouri

the mstp rejection letter was actually very nice, much better than others

on the one hand there's the Chase Park Plaza, and on the other is having to calculate the cost for the most nutritious yet cheap meal: pasta, chicken, and spinach.

so i dunno, what about you?

I don't know man...living on 99 cents a day sounds really really really appealing...but I guess I'll accept the waitlist, and withdraw with dignity. Harvard didn't fully crush my soul...I should quit while I'm ahead.

Edit: He had spinach? Boy must need his iron.

Waitlisted. Not too worried because I'll probably be off to Hopkins.

Anyone want to start a waitlist thread? We can title it, "Let's torture ourselves slowly (for no particular reason)." Does anyone have thoughts on what we could possibly do to improve our chances?

Congrats to all of those accepted. You're all probably very deserving. The Harvard students I met staying at Vandy seemed like a highly evolved subspecies of human. 😀 Haha, I'm sure you guys will change the world.

has anyone not yet received any word? i interviewed back in october, didn't get the e-mail, but also haven't received any type of letter, rejection or wait-list, yet. i live in california, so that might be the reason, but it seems as though other people on the west coast started receiving letters on saturday...

rejected in louisiana... not too sad about it, actually. it's a pretty day out!

no word from Harvard yet. I live in California. maybe they forgot my e-mail address? 👍

has anyone else received nothing from harvard yet? i interviewed in oct., havent heard a word since

oh and im also waitlisted at the same schools as you..columbia/washU.. congrats on acceptances to both those awesome cali schools!!..gotta say im quite jealous 😛

Nice acceptances you have there yourself 👍
Maybe we'll get off those waitlists...

Acceptances were initially via e-mail this year, so hopefully you'll get a waitlist in the coming days. Good luck
