Anybody know what's going on with Harvard? They've interviewed some, apparently, but I submitted my secondary and had AMCAS verified a long time ago and Harvard just tells me they can't process me until they get my AMCAS. Apparently there's nothing I can do to expedite that. Does that mean nobody has gotten my AMCAS from AMCAS? Harvard never asked for paper copies even, so if they are interviewing they must be able to get some lucky people's apps but not all?

I wouldnt interpret their contact with you as an indication that no other schools have gotten your AMCAS.

I emailed Harvard (applying for MD/PhD) about my status and they said they were missing one of my MD/PhD letters. But apparently, the rest of my application is complete which means they must have my AMCAS. Not sure if they have the paper version or the electronic version. The deadline for letters of rec has passed already (Nov. 15th) so it looks like its bye bye Harvard for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about Harvard right now. I think they are very behind on their stuff...they have been promising the online status check for a few months now...I would bet that they will be pushing back the notification date until mid-march at the earliest.

Baylor21: You're wrong! Harvard definitely extended their deadline to Nov 22; and last I heard, they might have extended it even further to Dec 1.

The Dec. 1 extension is correct, I just got a letter from Harvard in the mail yesterday. All of the stuff inside still says the deadline is Nov. 15, but there was a sticker on the front stating that the new deadline is Dec 1 2001 (actually it said Dec 1 2002, but the 1 was written over the 2 in black pen, I guess even those folks at Haaavaaaard make typos sometimes! see what an Ivy league ed. will get you? They don't even know what year it is! 🙄 ) And before any ivy-league-ers attack me about knocking your education, it was a joke... oh yeah, and i am just jealous too!

Haven't you noticed, alladawi? Attacks are rare on SDN. 🙂 Differences of opinion, yes, but attacks, no. 😀 That's what makes it so vastly superior to that "other" site! 😉 That and the fact that people are willing to share valuable information, like you just did. 🙂

It seems like I read somewhere on Harvard's website that they will evaluate you even if your file is incomplete.

Am I dreaming or is that true?

Hi Everyone,

I called Harvard to ask about the application process. They will not interview you unless all application materials are received, and that includes verified amcas. Also, they will not accept paper copies of your AMCAS or faxed MCAT score reports.

Nick

Oh, and also, Harvard admissions is not rolling, so if you've submitted all of your application materials on time, you should be fine.
