Who wants to be in my band? It's called the "Harvard Rejects"... Any talent welcome, no application fees, no interviews...🙁

aww how cute!! I'm sure you got in other great schools. 😀

ok, it's obvious that people who got the "good" fin aid message are not getting rejections. it's pretty clear that these people were put into the fin aid system, so they must be acceptances (or possibly waitlist, we can't be sure). it would take a "good message" person to get a rejection to disprove this, and i don't think it's going to be disproven or we would have heard otherwise by now.

but are all recipients of the "bad" message necessarily rejected? i live in boston, got the "login failed" fin aid message, and i still haven't gotten anything in the mail. what does that mean?

This is so depressing to read, like a horror story unfolding, a brutal massacre ... like seeing my comrades falling down in battle ...
wait, am I unconsciously copying last year's thread again? ...

well anyway, I'm crossing my fingers for those of you who haven't received the letter yet - may it be a waitlist (or, better yet, an acceptance! -- you never know =) although you received the same 'login failed' msg as me.

So looks like the first acceptances will arrive tomorrow? I wonder if the lucky (and very deserving!) person will post on this thread or start a new one like last year =P

With our null hypothesis that 'login failed' = rejected and 'contact office' = accepted, we cannot say that it's been proven ... we can only say that we've failed to disprove the hypothesis thusfar, hehe.

And good luck to you, maybe you are waitlisted! ^^ (and meanwhile, I'm wishfully thinking for my own sake too ... =) Looks like last week's snowstorm didn't delay anything huh?

lol... yeah I kinda had a different first choice (MD/PhD) but H was my mum's first choice (MD)... So it was a relief not to have to make that tough choice... But a Harvard acceptance never hurt anyone 😀 If anything, it would have been a nice ego stroke😉

I too got the thin letter today in SoCal (didn't check finaid page). I was sad at first, but life goes on--no point in dwelling in sorrow when there's nothing more that can be done. Good luck everyone with their decisions...I'm sure we all have great schools to choose from, so look on the bright side of things =).

I say: how about all the ppl who get accepted stick in this thread to the end?

I hope people will stay here initially, then after a few days migrate to an "HMS Class of 2011" allopathic class thread 😉
...then to Facebook. hehe.

P.S. Page 20?! Time to update the ol' bookmark again.

Yeah sounds like repeat of history if that happens. 😛

Edit, so as to not waste a post, I'll say this thread is going to be shut down at 1000 posts so it will have to be continued as a new thread

No news in the Bay Area today for me. A delay of the inevitable I presume.

I did, however, get put on hold at Albert Einstein, which is strange seeing that I withdrew from AECOM a couple week ago...

Time to send them another e-mail.

thin envelope rejection today in west texas, and i got the bad "login failed" message. at least i got a cool little HMS keychain from the COOP to remember my day in boston. good luck to you guys!
the keychain thing just made me tear up a little bit... 🙁

Nothing received yet for me. Very anxious. Anyway, what do you know about the curriculum changes? Looking at the handouts they gave us on our interview it seems to be very PBL heavy. I remember they had a lecture room and PBL rooms for NP. Anyone know the split for time in lecture versus PBL? I am not sure if I could stand 3 hours a day of PBL....Good luck everyone!

Looks like my prediction came true after all!

yeah, i'm basically with you......and it's scary😱

I am so anxious for tomorrow's mail...

I keep coming back to this thread to see who all got anything today, but it seems to have slowed, because people have already posted if they got something.

I need to find a good movie to pass the time... This is a long 24 hours...:luck:

The only thing in your situation that makes sense based on the evidence, assuming that "login failed=rejection," is that acceptances and wait-list letters have been mailed out together today. Which leads me to believe that "login failed" and no letter = waitlist.

I can not recall anyone posting on this thread who has been waitlisted yet, however it has only been a few days since the letters went out.

Rejected and login failed

Hasta luego Amigos!

Well technically, based on the evidence, we haven't proven that login failed = rejection. Come to think of it... we haven't proven anything. At best, we suspect that login failed means you are not assured a spot in the incoming class, but despite the similarities to last year, everything this year has occurred a little differently.

Assuming HMS is your top choice (of course not true for everyone) would you turn them down if you got a scholarship to another school? How good of a school?

It's not that PBL heavy. It depends on what block, but usually you have 2-3 PBL sessions a week, ranging from 1-2.5 hours each. Not too bad. Still mostly lecture, simulations, clinics, integration classes, etc.

With no intention to argue senslessly and even though I hate to be negative, based on the trend exhibited in this thread that most people w/ rejections had "login failed" I am suspecting that "login failed=rejection" is the case.

Well, nothing about being negative or positive. It's just that, when dealing with a question that will be fully answered in less than 48 hours, I find it best not to presume anything.

This thread kind of reminds me of "the 300."

Essentially a group of amazing applicants, each one deserving in his/her own right, brought together in a thread, in which 48 hours will result in the ultimate "end" of all but a handful of applicants with respect to HMS.

Seems like such a waste😛

But I refuse to give up hope. I'll return with my shield, or on it.

At this point, I think it's safe to just forget the login failed stuff. If you got a "contact the fin aid office" message, then you are most likely in, but even these select few people had the login failed message until that day. How do we really know that they didn't closed the site down for the rest of the updates, because they knew we would all be checking.

On this web, there has been about 10 people who got the good message, but that leaves 220 more people who we don't know anything about.

I would consider not getting anything tomorrow to be an excellent sign of admittance or waitlisted. That's my opinion.😀

"This is HARVARD!!! (kick)" I'll say it again (even though I've since received my rejection letter), I LOVED THAT MOVIE!!!

Man, you're way too optimistic for your own good. I like being a pessimist better: I'm never disappointed

If you don't see 300 for its sheer awesomeness, at least see it for the ladies.

oh man. we're totally gonna lock this thread out by tonight! who wants to start a new thread?? 😀

SoCal, no letter today. Did not get to check the fin aid site before they closed it. So i'm in the same situation as you QuantumMechanic... totally clueless... (and we're both the same for UCLA... haha)

Anyways, I am so anxious I don't know what to do with myself... ahhhhhhh feel sick to the stomach.......... :barf:

please make tomorrow come fast for all of us!!! 🙁

While I would very much like to do nothing tomorrow except stalk the mailbox, my mail isnt delivered until like 5. That makes ditching work pointless.

I vote for 2, unless GoinBack2Cali? has something else in mind. I find him amusing.

Actually, I'm with you and QM! Nothing in SoCal today for me from Harvard, and still nothing from UCLA :scared:
Those are the only two I'm waiting on now! So yeah, here's hoping for some answers soon!!
