I'm waitlisted for the HST, and I'm wondering what my chances are of being accepted off the waitlist. The waitlist letter says 40-60%, but I think it's for New Pathways. Does anyone know about how many are accepted off the waitlist each year?

I've heard that very few people get in off the waitlist, but I'm not positive. Does anyone else know for sure?

I am waitlisted HST as well and was wary of those numbers. However, I find it very hard to believe that "very few" people get off the HST waitlist. For one thing, I know that a number of people will choose between HST-MD and some non-Harvard MSTP program. While Harvard is Harvard, it would certainly be hard to turn down 8 years of funding at another great school.

This is purely a guess but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't take about 10-15 people off the waitlist (of 25), which accounts for the percentage they gave. I would bet they accept 40 people for those 30 spots, but in general only about 20 of them matriculate.

...Heres to wishful thinking =)

yep. this is my case

I am also waitlisted for the HST MD program and was wondering if any of you have heard yet. I'm afriad I'm beginning to become less and less optimistic...but still crossing my fingers. good luck to all of you!! lets hope those numbers are right

I have friends in this program, and unfortunately, virtually no one comes off the waitlist - it's more of a "you were a good student, better than most - unfortunately, we can't accomodate you" type of waitlist. I'd be settled with wherever you are going. They oversubscribe their incoming class and haven't had to hit up their waitlist in the past 5 years from what I've heard.
