So, if we apply to both of the Harvard programs, are we considered for both independently? Could we potentially need to make two trips to Harvard, once to interview for the HST and once to interview for the new pathway program? Or just one interview where we are evaluated for both programs at once?

I'll bump this because I want to know too.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but from what I remember from last years' posts, they hold separate interviews for each program. Also, I'm pretty sure you can do the interviews on the same day so you don't have to make 2 trips to Boston.

Check out intransit.us. They have a full review of the interview schedule for harvard/np/hst/mdphd. Both New Pathway and HST are considered independently, as is mdphd...so that gives you a total of 4 different possible ways to matriculate into harvard. They organize all the interviews, so only one trip will be necessary (as i understand it). But yea check out that site, it has way more info.

The guy who runs that site went to my school, it's a pretty good guide. i have to give him credit for that.

As of last year, HST interviews on tuesdays while New Pathways interviews on mondays and wednesdays. Because of this, they'll usually work it out so that your interviews for both, if you get them, will be on consecutive days.

It is very likely that you'll get invited for an HST interview in say, October, but won't hear back from New Pathways for interviews until January. If thats the case you can tell the committee that you're waiting for one or the other before you take the trip to Boston if you live a ways away. Since they are non-rolling it's not a big deal.

Also, each has their own independent committee as mentioned before, but for the final decision, there seems to be a main committee that pares both of them down to the appropriate class size for the coming year.

Good luck everyone! Now i'm gonna get on that HST essay 😛
