On the third page of the Harvard Secondary (the MD/PhD page) it says to be sure to print a copy of your essay responses before proceeding... but as far as I can see there ARE no essay responses required. certainly not on that page itself, and in the rest of the application the only one I've seen is for people who are reapplying....

am I missing something?

Last year there was only a required essay if you are applying for the HST program in addition to NP.

Off topic, but when did you get their secondary and when did you submit?

I haven't actually received their secondary, but someone in the Pre-Allopathic forum posted the link for the online application. 😛

I plan on submitting it tomorrow... with no essays, it's a quick one. what I didn't realise was that I had to submit an application simultaneously to the graduate school (not the case for all the other schools I'm applying to.. I THINK)... will get to work on that asap.

This threw me off, too. But I went around looking at the Harvard website and found this:

"Applicants in the basic sciences track do not need to complete a separate application to graduate school at this time. Application to the graduate program is usually made during the first or second year following matriculation in medical school.

Applicants in the social sciences track, however, must complete a separate application to the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Only those applicants in the social sciences who are admitted to both MD and PhD programs separately will be considered for offers of funding."

Perhaps someone messed up when programming the secondary application? Maybe the message intended for social science PhD'ers is being accidentally sent to basic science PhD'ers.

Lol yeah I just saw that on their website. It completely reinforced my decision to apply to the basic sciences track (BCS vs Psych) 🙂 j/k... would've done it anyway.

Looks like this year is the same. Only if your applying to HST is there an essay. I was somewhat surprised too, expecting a mammoth number of essays like Stanford or something. I kept reading and thinking... IS this IT????? REALLY... REALLY??????!!! WOW KEWL!

The character limit for "summarize your activities since graduation" was 4,000 characters. That is an essay in my book !
I think you were only given the question if your year of graduation was greater than a year or 2 ago.
