Hey guys, what do you think?
Hey guys, what do you think?
If I got into both I would go to Howard because the school would just be a breeze to me
Its funny that you say that...sounds like you are pretty biased. Dental school is dental school..everyone is learning the same things for the boards. Now are you making that "funny" little comment because Howard is a HBCU...understand that the professional schools at Howard tend to be diverse...every ethnicity. So why don't you go do some research on Howard and then come back with intelligent educated things to say about their program.
I don't see any Harvard vs. NYU threads on here meant to be amusing.
Hey guys, what do you think?
shouldn't this thread be titled "apples vs. oranges"?
It should be Shiny Apples Vs. Rotten Apples

I agree 100%..
I know this thread is supposed to be funny, but some people (like myself) will take some offense to it. Why do people assume that Howard would "be a breeze?" Did you interview there, or do you have any knowledge of the program besides the fact that it is an HBCU? I got accepted to Howard and am seriously considering going there. It annoys me that other people assume its an easy school largely b/c its predominately black and is therefore not worthy of any respect. It is true that Howard has lower stats. NYU also has lower stats compared to other schools, but yet people are fighting to get in there. I don't see any Harvard vs. NYU threads on here meant to be amusing. There are numerous grads of Howard running multi-million dollar practices. There are no rankings for dental school, so who's to say one school is better than another anyway?

I think both are shiny apples. It's just a matter of perspective. Dental schools, in general, are hard to get into. And Harvard dental school isn't the hardest professional school to get into.
Of course shiny apples aren't necessarily the best. Those committed to organic food would claim that shinier means more pesticides.
You know, for a second there, I was about to ask you if you drank too much froth of Romanticism... then you posted the organic food bit. 🙄
Anyone who takes this thread seriously is taking SDN too seriously.
This thread is a nothing more than a joke. So laugh a little.![]()

Most people on SDN are here to receive constructive criticism and maybe some guidance... Threads like this do neither, it actually offends people.
I was accepted to Tufts with a deans scholarship, I was also accepted to Temple... Schools where some people are dieng to go to. But guess what... I'm going to HOWARD, so don't say that they only accept low caliber applicants. Howard is a great institution that breeds high caliber proffessionals. enough said.
Yeah, these similar names really mess me up. Last year I thought I was applying to another Ivy league school in upper manhattan. I got accepted, but didn't feel very comfortable moving to Bogota.
the dean of howard actually said he was doing a case study... between the correlation of DAT scores and Board scores and how a low DAT/GPA doesn't discount your ability to kick ass on the boards. the 4th years just scored on average over 90th percentile. there are some brilliant people in my class no doubt and our dean expects us all to make no less than 95 percentile when its our turn!
