kokonut,

ppl in nyc took 2 days (most of them) to get the good news about p&s. I think it takes at least two days in large cities to get the mail from going in (5 pm on Friday, I am sure it was picked up, not earlier) and sorted to the correct USPS PO it has to go to then go out (or po box if you have one). If you are living in student housing, at least here at uva, they are notoriously slow.

PS also in charlottesville, va, no mail from harvard today (sat).

Ah well, I guess if someone in Boston got nothing today then the rest of us have no hope either.

Did anyone verify with them that things were actually sent out yesterday?

I got my Harvard rejection yesterday as well, but I cannot say I really care. I am waiting on a decision from UPenn. Also, my Hopkins interview day yesterday went so well. Good luck to everyone who wants to go to Harvard! It is not my cup of tea, but for those who love it, I really hope you get in! 🙂

I'm not sure what happened to the other person in Boston, but I did hear back today and I'm in the same area.

Lilmspiano -- was your letter postmarked Mar 5?

Did you get an acceptance? If so, congrats!

yes, turns out it was my lucky day (haven't been faring so well with a lot of schools)

Congrats!! Are in directly in Boston? Was it sent to our permanent or preferred mailing address?

Congrats again! Do you think you'll be going?

Got the letter today (I'm in Cambridge, MA). I'm so excited... HST was and is my top choice. =)

Congrats summervacation and lilmspiano!!!!

Was it a big envelope or a small one?

Congratulations to all who have been accepted!!!

Here's to hanging in there for all of us who are still waiting in places other than Boston! 🙂

All of those getting into the school of schools deserve 10 clappy hands:

Hehe, congrats to both you all. I guess it's Monday or so for the rest of us.

My friend, who lives south of Boston towards the Cape got into Harvard today. It was a big envelope. I am really happy for her 🙂

Congrats to all of you who got in already, and good luck to those of you waiting.

Congratulations to all who were accepted! Forgive me for being neurotic, but were all of your envelopes thick or thin?

Good luck to everyone who is waiting!

Congratulations, everyone!!!  That is so amazing.

Were the acceptances for New Pathways or HST, or both? Hopefully the rest of us will hear soon...

yowza ... congrats everybody!

were your letters postmarked on March 5? Or were they sent earlier?

To satisfy curiosity: the acceptance envelopes are big (8"x11") and were postmarked on March 5, 2004.

Good luck all! PM me if you're considering HST Class of 2008. =)

I'm so excited for you guys that got into Harvard..I could just squirt my pants right now! (I kid...I kid...) On a more serious note, CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!!!!! Best of luck to you all come fall...and good luck for those still waiting for their decisions from Harvard.

Did notifications for both HST and NP go out? Or just HST?

I would think that they have already heard back or not about whether or not they have been accepted because see the thing is......

I was talking to a good friend of mine and she said that her friend that does research at our Shriner's Hospital on campus already got his acceptance to Harvard Medical School.

The guy whom got accepted had like a 39 MCAT and high GPA.

Congratulations to everyone who got an acceptance!

So when is my letter going to reach California?? Hmm, if I remember correctly, my interview invite was postmarked Dec. 19, and arrived Dec. 26, but that might have had to do with the holiday season and all...

just bumping - hoping that some of us will hear good news today! =)

I called my gf, nothing in the PO Box today and yes (the mail came for Monday). Hmmm...

Will post later.

Whoa! Your mail gets delivered before 10am???

(I think it's fair to say that you could count today as "saturday" as far as the likelihood that a lovely fat acceptance letter sent on Friday would reach you this morning. I'm sure it'll be there tomorrow! Keep us posted!)

No kidding, man! I live iin Montgomery County and my mail never gets delivered before 2pm. Them VA postmen are something!

Hey guys,

I live about 2 hours south of Boston and I got the Harvard letter today. For those who are wondering, it comes in a white and green first-class envelope (8.5 X 11) with a red folder inside and was post-marked March 5. Also, for those who applied to both HST and NP, they tell you about both decisions in the same letter.

Good luck to all those still waiting!

fyi...

I didn't get my letter today (I live in cambridge), so I called the admissions office. They said that most, but NOT all, letters were sent out on friday.

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting...try to find something fun to do in the meantime

😴

well it seems like only acceptances have been received thus far. has anyone received a rejection or a waitlist? that could be what the last batch of letters are reserved for 🙁

Three acceptances. This is definitely not enough.

The common thread here is that the people who received acceptances (2) lived IN BOSTON. Surprise, surprise.

Another received something 2 hours SOUTH of boston, again, today, surprise, surprise.

The letters were first class, NOT priority mail, so they will take a bit longer to get to where they are going. So be patient.

I think a bunch of us will get notification tmw.

I received a reject today- postmarked 3/5. I live in South Carolina.

Good luck to those still waiting!

So, I called the Admissions Office and they said that absolutely ALL letters were mailed out on Friday. I live in NJ, and my mail didn't come yet (3:00pm). I'll keep you guys posted and Good Luck everyone. Also, a friend of mine who also lives in NJ got a post-interview rejection today 🙁

Received a rejection today - postmarked 3/5. I live in Baltimore.

Best of luck to those waiting

Argggghhhhh! The workday cannot end SOON ENOUGH!

I'll second those good luck wishes!

EDIT: Big Baubdi - very sorry to hear about your bad news... You sounded like you'd gotten excited about HMS (and PBL) - so it's a bummer. But I'm sure you'll have other great options!

That answers the "were acceptances and rejections sent out in separate batches" question.

I live in Berkeley...Harvard rejection today (not waitlist, just rejection)...dated March 3rd.

seeming contradiction...ack, if the rejection letter made it to berkeley, one certainly could have made it to my mailbox in la TODAY...EESH.

Pikayou -

Was this a pre- or post- interview rejection, if you don't mind me asking?

(Just trying to clarify if maybe some post-interview decisions were sent earlier...)

(And sorry about the bad news...)

im pretty sure pikayou's is a post interview...pretty stellar applicant from what i've garnered...which means that doesn't bode so well for somekevinguy..

okay, i called to confirm niema's post 😀

they also told me that all the letters went out by late friday afternoon.

in an attempt to reconcile niema and rayraad's information, i told them that I hadn't received my letter in Cambridge yet. They said that they believe that some of the letters might still be floating around Harvard University's mail system, and thus be delayed.

That makes some sense to me -- because obviously Harvard's mail room is closed on Saturdays (unlike the USPS), so that would explain why I didn't receive my letter today either. Which means my hypotheses and theories about these "late letters" are all debunked. 😀 (on second thought -- we still have yet to hear from anyone waitlisted -- so it could be that the waitlisted letters were put into the mail later in the day than the accepts/rejects and thus did not have time to make it out of the mail system).

The downside is that it means that for some of you farther away, your letters might not actually be entering the US postal system until today (or I guess possibly even tomorrow if it really lags).

I guess it means us Bostonites should receive our letters by tomorrow (fingers crossed).

It was post-interview. I completely imploded post-interview...everywhere. I had very early interviews at Harvard, UCSF, and Stanford. So far, I've received no good news since my Stanford acceptance in December (waitlist from Columbia, reject from Harvard, no word from UCSF...which is bad). D'oh.

Hmmmm... March 3rd post-interview? Weird. (Ugh, I should really stop obsessing about this! 🙂 )

Sorry to hear about your string of bad news - but congrats on Stanford - that's awesome!

I got the big envelope today in Vermont (postmarked 3/5, like all the others)! I left work early because I couldn't stand the wait any longer. Good luck to everyone!! 😎

congrats hijo (viking)
