Not that I actually think I have any real shot of getting in (yay optimism!), but I'm considering applying to Harvard's Clinical PhD program this fall, as there are two faculty members there who are doing research that is essentially exactly what I want to do.

I can't seem to find disclosure data anywhere on their website though, and I haven't gotten any responses to email inquiries over the last month or two. I wasn't sure if they just don't have data since their accreditation is so recent (keeping and sharing that info is an APA requirement, yes?), or if they're just being punks and don't have it readily available. 🙂

Anyone know anything about their average number of applicants, acceptances, and/or mean Q and V GRE scores??

It looks like they have REALLY small cohorts, and it takes a long time, they are fully-funded, and they have placed 100% into APA-acred positions. So uhm, good.

Do you want to do clinical work though? I think I've heard that their program is extremely research-based.

And Cara -- no, I'm not really that interested in clinical work, actually. I'm not completely ruling it out at this point, but research and teaching is definitely my main interest. So heavy research programs are okay with me! 🙂

Do you think Harvard will really be THAT competitive though? i realize it's an ivy league and they have some big names, but it's their first year of accreditation. I was thinking about applying because I have a good fit with one of their professors

I think it is all relative. "Ivy League" carries less weight in the graduate psych world because while there are some great people at the various Uni's, many of the best minds are at large state schools and non-East Coast Uni's. With that being said you are still probaboy in that <5% acceptance range that you'd see at BU, etc.

I think the acceptance rate was around 3% last year. I was thinking of applying as one of the profs seemed a perfect match but he is not accepting students.
